Jesus. The last couple of seconds of the conversation is just horrific.

I can not imagine what must have been going through the heads of those involved. Not only the caller but the call centre worker on the other end of the phone. Terrible terrible day in History that will be in my mind until the day I die.

I presume the ending was when the plane actually hit, but in the video I couldn't see it. Was the video in time with the phone call, or did the plane hit from the other side of the tower?

Sorry, I am just confused about what got hit and when. There was already loads of smoke around the top of the tower before he panicked at the end of the call - was this from the other tower next door? Or, had the plane already hit and that blast at the end was just an explosion caused by what had already gone on?

Wozza post says it was when the tower collapsed which happened a while after the plane hit it.

Well no, he didn't know exactly what had happened.

And he'd called his wife to say he was alright and on his way out... :-(

But if the plane had hit some time earlier, were the people inside not aware of what had happened? If not, what on earth were they thinking? I mean the smoke must have made them a tiny bit suspicious something was wrong, so what exactly were they trying to get out of?

I think the safety guidlines were you stayed put until told otherwise. He might also have been above the floors where the plane hit so had no way down.

The heat from the plane's fuel and the fire it caused made the steel towers melt. Ironically both towers collapsed the way they were ment to.

Saw the pictures of the planes crashing into the towers again during the week, it is still as shocking as it was almost 5 years ago, I cannot even begin to imagine what it would have been like to have been directly involved.

Yeah, what were they doing not realising that Al-Quaeda had flown two planes into the Towers, and the whole place was ablaze. I mean, even if they had been working and not looking out of the windows and the time, they had plenty of time to switch CNN on and find out what was going on.

Anyone would think they were just panicking.

:dunce:

the day will always stay in my mind. because we had no radio or anything where i was working it must have happened about 1 and a half hours before i knew exactly what had happened. but during that time i knew something had happened as the strange, sombre atmosphere spread across the factory where i was working at the time. :nono:

I was off work at the time and was watching some crap on TV when they cut in with a news flash. I spent the rest of the day watching in shock.

Like Woodchip said it will be remembered the same way as JFK was. Even though the London bombings were closer, the visual effect of 9/11 was so much more then 7/7 where most of it was underground.
