Jesus where does the time go.

Pity it all went sour but I for one will never forget that 2010/11 League One winning season.

Those back to back away wins at Charlton and Peterborough. Absolutely outstanding on both days. The championship clinching win at Walsall, another top day out.

Notable mention for Southampton away, Poyet's first game in charge.

Could go on and on...

Gus made going to watch the Albion exciting again. Granted there have since been blips (Oscar & Hyypia) but we're back on track.

If we are using the girlfriend analogy then he's the ex I'll never get over, the one you always hope will text you at 3am drunk asking for a trip down memory lane. Unfortunately in reality those texts tend to come from Micky Adams.

Never forget the good times under Gus, the back to back wins at Charlton and Peterborough were incredible, to score 7 and not concede is just amazing. The 8 straight wins in March to crown the season and then the swagger and style we played with in finishing 4th that season having only just missed out the season before despite a squad of players who, to a man, have done sod all since leaving here. He built an amazing team, but had his wings clipped and it fell apart at the end, he was always that sort of a man.

What made him magnificent caused his downfall, but a man who falls on his sword is ok in my book.

On the Border
If only Neil McNab has been born 30 odd years later we would have walked into the PL under Poyet. A player ahead of his time given all the abuse from the Goldstone faithful and the unwarranted nickname of the crab for all his sideways passing. A perfect Poyet player. Will we ever get close to those 8 March wins again.

He knew how to spot players too. We still have Ankergren, and Calde with us, dedicated to the club.

Poyet would never have got us promoted. Too 1 dimensional. Under him teams began to work us out. We had 1 way to play. At first it was pretty to watch but became very boring once teams knew that we would attempt to pass them to death. Arrogant ******** who is madly in love with himself. Glad he's long gone.

Gus wasn't and isn't as good as he thought he was and is... Mullery showed what could be done here... Gus got close, but no cigar...

Is that why towards the end of his tenure we started absolutely spanking teams? Because they 'worked us out' ???

We never spanked teams in the championship. Maybe a couple of good results against the likes of Barnsley. Our football became so boring at times it was painful to watch. A good manager has a plan b and a plan c. Poyet had a plan a. If it wasn't working he stuck to plan a. He was great for us for 2 years before his massive ego got the better of him.
