I think 9/1 for us to be be the furthest progressing League 1 team is quite good value with Skybet.

That's cracking value. Only 21 League One teams can make it through to the 2nd round, and with Woking an easy win on paper, 9/1 is worth £5 of anyone's money.

Forgetting the fact that Gus doesn't like cup competitions.

He doesn't like cups that have no meaning. I think he will want to get through to the third round and test his team against someone from a higher level.

Wouldn't touch that furthest progressing market until the 3rd round's drawn. All good and well seeing that 9/1 now but when we draw Chelsea and Swindon (or whoever) get Kettering that looks a bit small. Last year I backed palace e/w at 25's to progress furthest simply because they had Barnsley in the 3rd round and that price was big.

You want to see your own team lose? Now I've seen it all.

Yup, I wouldn't mind a good cup run if we were doing shit in the league but as Leeds showed, a cup run can really f*** up the hard work you do in the league. Cue "What a load of shit, Gus can guide us past Man United"

you sound like quite a betting guru, i'm gonna apply that logic next time I back a horse, i'll see how it's doing with two furlongs left to run, see what the others are doing and if it still looks a good bet i'll see if I can get the same price it was at the off[/QUOTE

Ok then brains you steam into that 9/1 and come and tell me what a masterstroke it was when the 3rd round's drawn (if we're in it)

Has a team ever won the FA cup whilst playing in the third tier of English football ?

Good idea, its called betting in running and is available on betting exchanges. There are plenty of times when the in running price is better than the SP.

Don't think it represents "cracking value" at all given that we don't know what kind of team Poyet will put out. Perhaps a little generous seeing as we are playing so well but then you've still have the luck of the draw to contend with.
What would you say a true price was then?

Given our 1st round opposition, you would put good money on us reaching the 2nd round. Being the top team in the competition, you would then say we could beat anyone in the next round.

Yes it's about the luck of the draw, but welcome to the world of betting. 7/1 would represent good value IMO.

If someone offered you 9/1 on Chelsea to be the last remaining Premiership team left in the competition, you would snap their hand off (9/2 to win the FA Cup).
