We had been in 22nd (relegations place) for 11 games and looked certain to drop in to League 2.

Worth recalling this should you get the urge to lord it over other clubs (apart from Southampton) in the next few weeks. A couple of results going the other way and everything would have been different.

Thanks Russell, Dick, Gus and Tony.

100% agree TRHK. I remember walking out of Brisbane Road after losing 2-1 towards the end of that season (I think I've got my years right?) feeling certain that we would be visiting Morcambe the next season and here we are, a couple of years later, looking forward to visiting Pride Park, Portman Road and the Ricoh Arena and maybe even Smellworst :)laugh:)

Ha bloody ha. I was just making a general point about the teams that we will be visiting in the Championship as opposed to our friends in league 2. But yes, you're right, we have been through it.

I'd rather go to Morecambe than Ipswich any Saturday of the season...but, yes, I know what you're saying.

Could be a great division next year...some good away days for us..West Ham (fingers crossed), Wolves, Forest, Brighton, Palace, Southampton (maybe), Rochdale (please)...

yep, good post. I hope we don't forget times like that, if, as it seems right now, our upward trajectory carries on apace

Was looking at the table again today as you can get it on the seagulls site. We were very nearly dead and buried. I remember that Hereford away game where it was yet again them or us (they must hate us).

For all Slades limited coaching skills and general being a bit small time, he pulled it out the bag and produced the great escape. Gary Hart was also the man that I'll also remember, he was simply incredible for those last few games. Was quite amazing !

If we had of gone down then it all could of been so different. My bet is we'd of come straight back up but would not of got Gus. We'd probably be another Huddersfield trying year after year to get out the dross.

We have had so much good fortune really but for all the shite of the last 2 xdecade's ...... we deserve it !

Blimey the time has flown by!
I remember Bristol Rovers that season when Harty turned the game and Andrew did for us what he hasn't been able to do for Swindon this year. Walked out of the MEM that night just beginning to believe that we could escape but never ever dreamed that we would be where we are today.
