Another subjective list, there's no mention of Aerosmith, Nils Lofgren, The Darkness and a host of others not to mention The Shadows and so on.

The Darkness!!!

What ever happened to the saviours of Rock? Stumbled at the first hurdle of that "2nd difficult album". And now poor old Justin is in rehab as he realises that once the press hype had eroded you have to deliver!

I think it's actually a monster of a trio/triplet/whatever it's called, although technically only when played live as the album version was triple-tracked by the same guy so I've got no idea what that makes it.

It was all Gary Rossington though? Layers schamyers - he still played it all himself...

Whats the definition of a solo?

Rod Cameron plays it fantastically in Dolly Dagger at the Duke every now and then!!

It's got a monster of a duo on it.

Edit... Duet even... :shootself Come to think of it, it might even be a trio...

... and, while we're on the subject, half of the Hotel California "solo" (the best half) is a duet. Mind you, I still wouldn't miss it off the list.

'Whole Lotta Love" deserves a higher rating though. It still gives me goose-bumps the way the solo comes in.

I think it was Collins, but don't quote me on that.

It was, although the original LP of 'One more from the Road' had an over-dubbed version which he recorded in a studio a few weeks later (along with 29 retakes). The 25th Anniversary double CD however, uses the actual live performance from 8th July 1976.

Where is Gary Moore Parissien Walkway, my favourite.

I was told, by a musician who played at one of my pubs and was a friend of his, that he made that to pay off his Income Tax and avoid going to prison.

Gary Moore is awesome, one of my fave guitar riffs of his is from Whiskey in a Jar.

And i agree Walkway should have gotten a mention in that list.

To me one glaring ommision is the Kinks "You really got me".

Dave Davie classic power guitar solo deserves to be there because it was a ground breaking sound for the time.

And he did it before any of the latter to follow great guitarists had been heard of on the air waves.

Another glaring ommission is anything by Jeff Beck.

C'mon survey people the guys never used a guitar pluck in his life how many other guitarists have only ever used their fingers for flips sake!!!!!

Gary Moore was not in Thin Lizzy when they released Whisky in The Jar. The guitarist was Eric Bell and it was not an original song.
