This coming Saturday is the third anniversary of 9/11 (I really wish in Britain we would get it right and call it 11/9!) and the world will remember the terrible events of that September day in 2001. We too as NSC will remember in particular Ricky Marlowes Hairpiece (Robert Eaton). I am pleased to see the flag will be at Watford and I know the type of club they are they will give great support and respect on the day.

However, following last week’s horrific events in Beslan. I hope that in future years we will also remember 3/9 with the same level of respect and sadness. Somehow, though I think this will not be the case. Although the Russians who died are of the same colour skin, they don’t share our culture or language … and of course no Brits were there. So, sadly the event will pass into history in much the same way as the massacre of 1 million Rwandans in 1993/94.

I think this is the saddest indictment of our western psyche.

And we need to remember the war, the 2nd war, the Falklands, 1st invasion of Kuwait, the Iraq war, the 2nd Iraq war etc etc etc. At that rate we'd have 1 minute silences everyday for what the Human race has brought upon itself...the shameful need to kill each other :nono:

I disagree.

The 2 events 9/11 and 9/3 as you call it were both of an equal scale of sheer horror and disbelief as to how humanity could do that to its fellow people.

The scale of 9/11 was unprecedented because of where it happened and the destruction of 2 1200 feet towers and 3000 innocent lives, the scale of 9/3 is terms of people involved and the fact 200 kids were slaughtered is equally unbelievable.

I have been thinking since 9/3, we on earth do we go from here ?.

The terrorists have shown in the 2 events that NOONE not even children are safe in their twisted thinking and evil ways.

When and I mean when we have our own attack on these shores which will happen I dread to think of the backlash that will happen in this multi cultural country. Its a tinderbox waiting to go off.

Given the pent up aggression in this country, I totally agree.

It still confuses me that after 900 years of so-called religious wars, mankind still uses religion - and in more recent years the colour of someones skin - as a justification to murder and maime. I
Sometimes I feel we have not progressed one iota as a species since the first crusades in the 12th century.
I agree that come the inevetiable terrrorist outrage that awaits our country, the backlash does not bare thinking about ....

The really terrifying think about last Friday is that the Islamic fundamentalists have shown there are no depths of depravity to which they will sink.

It was bad enough being a traveller wondering if some nutter was on your plane about to plough it into the houses of parliament after it took off but there is at least something you can do about the security of this.

Now the terrorists have decided that children are fair game to be shot in the back 46 time and gangbang raped whats to stop a bunch of Islam men living on state benefits in this country to overtake a christian school and do the same here.

We cannot have a Police gaurd on every school in the land.

The problem is that we haven't changed as a species since the 12th century, but that we have machine guns, and bombs. This means a very small number of people can kill a large number if they want.

I'm sorry, Gareth, but - yet again - you are allowing your fears of Islam to distort your thinking.

The horrific events in Beslan give me no reason to fear that "a bunch of Islam men living on state benefits in this country" will "overtake a christian school and do the same here".

We surely need to be working for reconciliation, not stirring up prejudice and hate.

Cos of course, they're all the same, aren't they? Every one of 'em! They're all out to get you! Yes, you!

Good to see you again venting your customarily well-thought out, unprejudiced and non-divisive views on the matter - a bit of ill-informed hateful bigotry against your fellow man is really what the world is crying out for at the moment, isn't it.

Lord

Sorry to be a bit tetchy.

Should have read Islamic fundamentalist men as I know 99% of Islam followers are not like this.

It cannot be denied surely that all these attrocities are in the name of Islam and in the name of the holy war, Jihad. Islam and the good people of Islam need to put their house in order imho and come out and condemn outright what is going on in the name of their religion. They seem strangely quiet on the subject.

99% of the country and very suspicious of the Islamic religion at the moment, maybe they don't understand it, maybe the Islamic people are not helping themselves.

I don't know what the answer is Lord.

MOH lets not go over old ground. Islam has to put its house in order. That is not bigotry or rascism it is fact. Read my post above.

if you're worrying about when the time comes that some Group of nutters takes over a UK school and holds 500 kids hostage, maybe you should worry about the following:

An Asteroid wiping the Earth out like bowling ball crushing a ping-pong ball

The time when you have a house fire and you cant get out

When you cross the road and the last thing you see is a Bus doing 30MPH from 2feet away from you

there no point worrying or else you'll turn into a demented wreck and end up in Asylum Avenue with Geoff the Painter who thinks he's a mouse on Mars and at weekends his name is Brian!

Chill...relax...have a smoke :smokin:

Oh, so sorry people, did I yet again find myself writing "Muslims" when in fact I meant to type "extremist fundamentalist nutters"? Sorry, what a terrible mistake I keep making...

The only way to really stop what is going on in this world is to at least try to understand why people do what they do. This is where the answer lies, unfortunately we are not willing of patient enough to do this.

Exactly.

Why the f*** not?

What drove these people to carry out such evil, inhuman actions??

The human race has lost complete control of itself and at the moment I do not see a way back.

Which is pretty sad.

That is why I think the world is on the verge of imploding on itself. Where on earth do we go after Beslan ?.

There were certain rules of humanity that you believed in, a line that would not be crossed no matter what the background. Beslan blew that out of the water.

There is now no limits to which the terrorists will go.

Diplomacy would be nice but human nature being what it is I fear Chechnya will be raised to the ground.

.

Can't agree. The same things have been happening for hundreds of years, it just seems we have chosen to ignore them in the past.

Out of sight, out of mind.

Some Foreign countries have been raising kids with guns in their hands and told to fight since they we're able to WALK, this has been going on for YEARS! As Chappers says...Out of Sight, Out of Mind.
