Chaos outside our end at the end of the match, police blocked off 2 side streets but a mob of Chesterfield fans came up a small road directly behind the away end to attack us…..let’s say they were sent back down the small road by many angry Albion fans.
Police tried to take everyone to the railway station, myself and friends had to get away from the escort as we came by car.

I don't didn't go to the match, but a colleague of mine was a Chesterfield fan. So I got my own back at the end of the season.

Chesterfield was one of the few lower league grounds I never got to.

It was a pretty miserable day. I remember coming back late and having a row with my then girlfriend: we split up the next day. I blame Chesterfield.
She was probably already shagging someone else and looking for any excuse.
Some one lobbed their mobile phone on the pitch in anger🤣

23 years ago this week on the 21st of October, 2000. We lost 1-0 away to Chesterfield. Conceding in the last minute.

I've never forgiven Ingledow, or the town of Cheatersfield for that moment, getting Oatway sent off, or nearly cheating their way to the title.

This week they play York. We play Ajax. Ha.

I was there. Worst shithole and inbred jumped up numpty support I can remember. And I've been to Ninian park, the New Den and Turf Moor

The old den was just weird, they set alight newspapers on the terraces for no apparent good reason.

As for Chesterfield we had just parked up and some inbred was on us in a flash. The Dingles sprang to mind 😀

If you recall their Chairman was a proper wrong un however like my dear old Mum used to say everyone’s got a bit of good in them.

When I’d finished on the wireless, myself and the much missed Richard Hanks (Hanksie) were wandering round Saltergate, it was approaching 5.30 and we were waiting for Hawesy to sign off around 5.45, and for whatever reason we found ourselves in the Directors Lounge, Dick and co had already shot off, but we were not only welcomed, given a bit of food, but as we were leaving one of them said, and he looked fairly important so it might have been The Man Himself, said would you like to take some beers for the journey home?

Which we promptly did 👍 (Quite a few in a carrier bag 😂)
