If you are not religious please don't put Jedi... say no religion!

Interesting. in 2001 the question was asked differently in Scotland (along the lines of what religion were you born into and what religion do you now practice) and showed a far greater number of non-religous people in the population than the rather simplistic question in the England & Wales Census results in.

As the BHA (nice initials) say a misleading question results in a misleading answer and is used to maintain the priviliges of the religious and discrimination against rationalists.

Why do people bother putting that they are 'Jedi' when they are not? If you really do research and endevour to follow it then fine (if a little bit geeky) but if you don't, then why put that you are, when you are no more Jedi than Jew, Christian, Muslim etc. If it is so important to you that 'they' don't know your religion, then just say 'none', why lie?

The "Jedi" answer (which was widespread in the 2001 census) is simply dealt with. It's treated as the same as "none".

But saying Jedi instead of none tells the census people that you are a bit zany (like a 'you don't have to be mad to work here') plaque on your desk

Write a retrospective diary of your life.. far more revealing than any census, and it will save your descendants a bucket load of time, effort and money.

You need to complete the census. Central government and local councils use the data (especially the population statistics) for future planning and funding requirements. So if you don't complete it, and half your local schools, council leisure facilities, social services etc disappear through lack of funding, you will be at least partly to blame because of your apathy.

Will it make any difference after Dodgy Dave and Nasty Nick have already done this ?
