We normally get the train up, change at Clapham (Platforms 5 and 6) and get the train to Putney, then walk

Good tip -- thanks! I'd been looking at how to get there from Victoria, given that the circle and district lines are closed that day. Hadn't thought of going that way

Is the Jolly Gardeners still going strong in Lacey Road? Still a Fuller's pub? lived a few doors down from there before they built the shopping centre, mid-80s.

Looks like it judging from this: http://www.thejollygardenerssw15.co.uk/ Looks like a nice pub - I must try it, thanks for the tip. There are 2 Wetherspoons - the Railway opposite the station and the Rocket on the right hand side near the river (behind the church). The Spotted Horse is a good Youngs pub and just off Lower Richmond Road (turn left when you get to Putney Bridge, 100 yards down turn left again) is The Bricklayers Arms, which has won numerous London CAMRA awards - its a bit like the Evening Star. All of these pubs welcome well behaved away fans. The official away pub is the 8 Bells near Putney Bridge tube. It used to be the Fulham changing rooms in the 1880s so treat it with care please. The Crabtree is the nearest pub to the ground - on the other side of the ground nearer Hammersmith, right by the river.
