and (shhh) if you draw the border line out to sea from Berwick 45% of the oil remains in the english domain............

it depends on how and where you draw the line. The Scots have always assumed it would be dead horizontal, along the latitude from which the border hits the sea. in this case nearly all the oil is in Scotland. however my understanding is that the normal international convention is for the line to follow a line of best fit of the rest of the border. in this case vast swaths of the oil fields fall on the English side.

this is exactly the sort of thing that the SNP think is done and needs no discussion, while everyone else involved tells them its more complicated. its like a student union taking over, only thinking of each issue in isolation and no thought of consequences, conflicts or contradictions.

Also the Labour vote would be decimated...Labour have more Scottish MPs than anyone else...swathes of Scottish voters of Labour live in Scotland...
It will indeed,... but as there isn't an official Scottish election until 2016 sometime (assuming a YES vote in 3 weeks), the voters in Scotland next year will probably still vote in the UK general election,...... cake and eat it.

Away away away
Watching the debate last night, it was horrible. Salmond was all style and technique, absolutely zero substance. Smug. Darling was just pointy and shouty. He did the no vote some harm, hopefully not enough to rip up the system.
