Remember watching the '73 game with the old man,we played in yellow (not long had a colour tv),alan ball sent off
my old man said to me "don't worry son we'll thrash them at wembley" well if it wasn't for Tomachekski we would of done

Tomaszewski, what a legend! He is known in Poland as "The Man Who Stopped England".
He is very severe in his criticism of the current Polish FA and its president Grzegorz Lato
(yes, the World Cup '74 top goal scorer himself).

i'd say out of around 50 or 60 lads,90% were Poles

I found them really nice fellas and haven't got a bad word to say against them

A lot of lads go to work abroad these days. Good to hear you got on well with them,
but it doesn't surprise me; Britain is traditionally one of the most liked countries by Poles
(it dates back to WW2 and you fighting the nazi sickf*cks alone after Poland, France
and other countries had fallen).

Hope you go through in the play-offs

Thanks a million but I can't see that happening. I'll be happy if we finish
third (but wouldn't be surprised with the 4th place).

Cheers.

"I shagged your mum" is an obvious type of retort, but it works in most cases;
years of reading football forums taught me that :)

In what game was that then?

Poland were shocking at the Euros.

Outplayed Greece and unlucky to draw.

Drew against a very, very strong Rssian side and scored an absolute worldy.

In those games. 2 out of the 3.

You obviously have to take into account this was Poland's 2nd Euros appearance EVER. They are relative minnows in the Euros when you take that into account.

Outplayed Greece and unlucky to draw.

We were unable to finish off the Greeks when we had one man advantage
and very lucky when they missed a penalty. In the final 15 minutes only
the Greeks were playing, so it was a lucky draw.

Drew against a very, very strong Rssian side and scored an absolute worldy.

At home, against another team that failed to qualify from our group
(though Błaszczykowski's goal was great, that's true).

Thank you for not mentioning the atrocious game against the Czech Republic, and if you
read my previous response to your post, you surely understand the lamentable state Polish
football is in at the moment.

That's a very simplistic way of judging Russia though. Yes they were poor in their last game, but they were superb in their first and very dangerous against you.

I think it shows that on the whole people are naturally more negative about their own countries chances/performances than people looking from the outside.
