Shellac are playing up in London in a few weeks. We can't make it for then, but they're if anything getting better live. Last saw them on NY eve with Sonic Youth a few years back and they succeeded in articulating sonic joy

Found this band whilst surfing for some Sisters of Mercy live stuff. They are called Gregorian and cover rock and pop covers in the style of Gregorian monks.

Anything from Pink Floyd , Metallica , Led Zep , REM , Madonna .They don't spank the originals , but they are quite interesting . I particuarally like these.

No doubt I will get fixtured if this has already been posted but it just popped up on Spotify shuffle play.

You can sing along as they have put up the lyrics as well

12 pages, I can't be bothered to go back to see if it has been mentioned, but seeing that version of The Scientist made me think of:

not a thorough 'SPANKING', but it has Hersch singing it which can only improve ....... and the guitar is more mournful

bearing in mind that the original is one of the greatest pieces of music ever.

Not sure if these spank the originals, but they bring much joy, from the artist he believes in and brings 'Joy in People'. I can't find a full length version of Love Will Tear Us Apart; if anyone can please whack it up

To take the thread in a slightly different direction, my favourite live cover versions that I can remember off the top of my head are:
Elliott Smith singing 'I'm So Tired' by The Beatles, somewhere in London (Dingwalls) in about 1998
Gillian Welch singing 'White Rabbit' by Jefferson Airplane, at The Dome a few years ago.
