It seems that there is something of a dispute on NSC as to the reason behind our slump in form, so I thought we should have a poll
Without the poll options, the injuries to 4/5 first team players would batter any team. Let alone the lack of competition in the squad in the past few games. Wingers and striker(s) have to be the targets now.
I thought the only person really blaming CH's tactics was Bens Grandad, who no-one listens to anyway.
Most defo the injury list...The big issue is they're all key players and rather long injuries in the months and most are 4/5 months bar March all season.
You can cope losing 2/3 key players but not 6/7 players for many months.
We are too reliant on possession football at the moment and not getting the ball into the box either quick enough or often eniugh. Need to be a little more route 1.
Yep spot on...Bong and lua lua were fantastic up the wing and we had serious pace, rosenior was also a super player and very versatile. If you look at the early results when we were unbeaten, the first six weeks were mainly wins...the KLL got injured, followed by Bong etc.....more draws were creeping in as the list got longer, til our last win on Dec 5th against Charlton. It catches up in the end and two fighting draws against QPR and Derby took more out of the fit players.
If we had a nearly fully fit squad and we were losing these games then there would be definite worries.
It APPEERS not
Very well put. Both Ipswich and Wolves defended deep with two banks of four and both had strong centre half pairings. Route 1 would be totally ineffective against these tactics and balls into the box would be gobbled up gratefully. What we need is the guile to pick through or relentless pressure. As most of our guile is on the treatment table, we tried the latter, which was the right thing to do. We did create chances, but unfortunately couldn't finish them.
