When we used to play northern teams our normal stop-off on the way home by car was Northampton. Had some good pubs.Would stop here pre m25, the locals loved our visits

Only problem was Rev,that Oldham mob ended up coming in our direction

A faction that frequented the pub were known as the bosun mid to late 70's. For big games the lamb and flag and vanguard pubs would play their part.
