1. Iva Bittova.
Any excuse to post this masterpiece again. By her standards, this is very middle of the road.

2. Lee 'Scratch' Perry - Pipecock Jackson, The Upsetter... Call him what you want. A legend in several lifetimes.

3. Sainkho Namtchylak. A brief introduction here. She's been through some hard times that's for sure. If you want to explore further, start with the album Stepmother City. Only when you're feeling really brave should you even dare to think about listening to Lost Rivers.

My first thought was Scratch.

My second was Brian Wilson. Obvious but this is so complex for a simple sounding track.

And my third Jeff Mills. Playing Detroit Techno with an Orchestra waaay before Ibiza Classics etc

Both the subject of this song Syd Barrett and the singer Dan Tracey.

Always thought Grace Jones is a bit special as well.

Loving the Grace Jones shout.

Born in Spanish Town, Jamaica. Given the very 'traditional' nature of Jamaican society, even today, cultivating that androgynous image must have taken some balls. If you'll pardon the pun.
Admittedly, the move to New York would have helped.
