[Albion] The Amex today - loudest since Sheffield Wednesday 2016?

Before kick-off the stadium was still quite empty – presumably not helped by the transport issues – and the PA system seemed to be on about 40% of it's normal volume. The pre-match video and music is normally very loud up in WSU but you could barely hear it.

We remarked that it felt very very flat, like everyone had a heavy Saturday night and was nursing hangovers or hadn't had any pre-match time in the pub.

But things definitely ramped up as the game progressed, helped by the penalty and Schmeichel doing his best to put Maupay off and refusing to get back on his line etc. We definitely roared the team home in the last 20 minutes or so and at the final whistle it was great to hear the roar, the applause and most people being there to give their thanks to the team and Graham.

Leicester fans are not a happy bunch (either due to poor acoustics between North and South Stands or just sour grapes) - comments on their forum include:

"the one positive I can draw is that we don’t have the worst home atmosphere in the league - Brighton fans were truly atrocious. Other than a couple of cries of “allllbiiooon” we didn’t hear a peep from them the whole game"
"Brighton away is always terrible, away end is not geared up for a good atmosphere and the home fans are terrible (didn’t used to be so bad in the Championship)"
"Given the fact that there was not much to cheer in the first half, and the Brighton fans were silent"

Sour grapes. We took time to get going but this bloke must be deaf if he didn't hear it as the drama unfolded. Leicester were nothing to write home about but did anyone else notice what a high proportion of them were big fat b*stards?

It was the traffic. I was in a huge A27 jam at 1:45 on a park n ride, whilst a nsc poster in the stadium predicted a tiny attendance from what he could see.

Then the legions filled the place, the team starting playing well and the atmosphere took off.

The stadium being so empty beforehand and so flat to begin with was 100% because of the transport problems left right and centre! To be fair quite impressive that 25k or so still managed to make it all things considered

It was staggeringly empty everywhere an hour before kick off……..and even at 15 mins before it didn’t look like getting anywhere near (concourses my have been mobbed by then but I was in my seat). Quite surprised to see how full it was once the game started, and also great to see far fewer leaving before the end than usual. KO time and obviously game situation no doubt helped this.
