De Gea is31? He seems to have been around forever.

Spanish keepers seem to emerge early with big Bob, Unai Simon both being early twenties, de Ge making his debut at Atletico Madrid s a teeneager and Kepa being a young gun. And of course there's Casillas who made his debut for Real when he was about 7.

I wonder what it is that makes them establish themselves so young?

Just turned 31. Spain do seem to bring keepers through young. Like you say De Gea was just a teenageer when he made his Atletico debut at 18 in the Champions League, by the end of the season he was already established as their number 1 at 19 years old. A year later United signed him at 20 and he became their first choice keeper.

Not sure why people are blaming Sanchez clearance on Saturday that led to the goal , it went pass the half way line , should really be blaming the defence

He was actually still 19 when United signed him and, straight away, became their first choice keeper.
He made a few mistakes early on, and the memory of those blindsided pundits to his improving performances. Along with Neuer and Buffon, he looked the best goalkeeper around up until a few seasons ago, when his form has dipped and goalkeepers with new skillsets have come through (Alisson, Ederson, Donnarumma and, for me the best of the lot, Oblak).

He was 20 when he joined United. Born 7th November 1990 and signed for United 29th June 2011.

He definitely had a few seasons where he hasn’t been as good as he previously had been but there have been glimpses this season that he’s getting back to those levels.
