The first one I fell in love with was Steptoe and Son.............

I’m presently watching Dads Army.

Steptoe and Son here too.

Present day, probably Friday Night Dinner.

Not at all, Felicity Kendall was Barbara and Penelope Keith was Margot. Would have done sterling service to both at the time (1975-78).

Probably FK slightly more often than PK but can't resist a bit of Posh so she might well have had it a bit Rough Trade...

Yes but I was replying to a post about WENDY CRAIG! Go back, you’ll see :)

Loads of great shows highlighted already.

But no one has suggested Coupling which I thought was brilliant.

First one I remember as a child was “love thy neighbour” absolutely loved it. Shame it would never be shown again due to the snowflakes of the modern era.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

The reality of course being that it was considered dodgy at the time and hasn't been repeated for decades, let alone the modern era.

However for the easily offended you can still pick it up on DVD.

In no particular order I’ve enjoyed;
The thick of it
Murder in Successville
The Office
Early Doors
After Hours (another little known gem from the Craig Cash/Caroline Ahern stable)
Back to Life
Porridge
Toast of London
Rabbit
Curb your enthusiasm
Blackadder 2,3 and 4
Peep Show
The reluctant landlord
Phoenix Nights
Stath lets flats
The Job Lot
Hi de Hi
Brush Strokes
Bottom
Bread
Watching
I’m Alan Partridge
Saxondale
The Detectorists
Him and Her
League of Gentlemen
Red Dwarf
The Inbetweeners
Zapped

And dipping into radio

In and out of the kitchen
Hut 33
Count Arthur Strong
Hang Ups

I’m sure there’s many more.

Bottom, forgotten all about it and ended up watching the first episode a few days ago.

Genius. Not as ground breaking as The Young Ones, but much much funnier.

Uffern
Rab C Nesbitt and the show which really spawned it, Naked Video

I'd forgotten Rab. What a show that was

There was another sitcom I liked: it was set on a Scottish airline and starred Alan Cumming and Forbes Masson. One of the campest shows I've ever seen. Was it called The High Life?

EDIT: Yes. it was.

Friends. I know its on all the time, but it still watches as well as when it was first on.
Men Behaving Badly. Mainly because it reminds me of the days living with my best mate in same style as Gary and Tony.

Most of my favourites already listed.

I'd add (some being a stretch as sit coms, but someone already included Boosh - which also gets my tick of approval, so...):

Filthy, Rich and Catflap
Nathan Barley
Whatever happened to the Likely Lads
Stella Street

Frasier was absolutely brilliant. I still see the odd repeat on a Sunday morning and crack up laughing like Im watching it for the first time.

Frasier
Cheers
Only Fools
Taxi
Porridge
Curb Your Enthusiasm

Finally, someone mentioning Curb, surely the funniest US comedy? Been watching Schitt’s Creek and I really love that, too. In the U.K., I vote for the classics, Steptoe, Porridge, Rising Damp, Only Fools, Partridge etc.

All of the above plus I really liked Brass - it was about a northern industrialist and his family, starring Timothy West.
