Do you use your Dot a lot

Yeah. I got it the room that was to become the home office/study, but that's still a work in progress (don't ask) so it's in the main living room.

I think it takes a little bit of time to remember it's there and, frankly, you can say almost anything at it and you'll likely get an intelligent response.

The weekly "What's new with Alexa?" email generally prompts me of some things it can do that I wasn't previously aware of, although this week wasn't a great example of that!

WEEKLY SPOTLIGHT

“Alexa, change the subject”
For when you need help getting out of sticky conversations.
“Alexa, open the Champions League quiz”
“Alexa, when I say ‘it’s party time’, play disco music”
Create Routines by voice. Just tell Alexa the phrase you want to say and the action she should take.

THINGS TO TRY

“Alexa, play ‘Baa Baa Black Sheep’”
“Alexa, how many seconds in 24 hours?”
“Alexa, open Beautiful Dream”
“Alexa, do not disturb”
Enable Do Not Disturb mode when you do not wish to receive any Alexa calls or messages. Learn more.
“Alexa, cancel my alarms”
“Alexa, open Bookfinder”
Get help finding your next book from a selection of bestsellers, trending titles and inspirations.
“Alexa, announce breakfast is ready”
Ask Alexa to make announcements on all compatible Echo devices in your household or the Alexa app.
“Alexa, add a to-do”
“Alexa, what's the extended forecast?”
“Alexa, give me a vegetarian recipe”
“Alexa, tell me a ninja joke”
“Alexa, turn off the lights”
Add your Echo device to a smart home Group with other smart devices so that Alexa only turns on or off the lights in the group where your Echo device is located. Learn more.
“Alexa, what is your favourite band?”
“Alexa, what are my reminders?”
“Alexa, what's on your bucket list?”
“Alexa, what are your trending skills?”

You can adjust the volume and, yes, you can play Amazon music as well as music from other services such as Spotify and Deezer.

Amazon actually have a £3.99/month offer on right now for the full Amazon Music service to be used with an Echo device - https://amzn.to/2QoaSZi

Are the NSC coughers getting low. Bozza on all out sell mode.
PS I've 4 Alexa gadgets, 6 Blink cameras (viewable on the Show), over 12 switches and about 50 Hue lamps. Think I've enough.

Just played that Champions League quiz and got 10/10. Apparently I'm awesome, and really know my stuff.

Someone should tell my wife.

Leeds - but not the dirty bit
Oooooh - had no idea something like that was available.

Really good. Take it anywhere, hotspot from my phone when out of range in the garden or going to the park etc etc

Also handy that I got the thing when it was on a lightning deal.

Very tempted to get a Fire Kids 8 for the boy, got a drive down to Devon in a few weeks and that could really come in handy.

Do we need to plug Amazon ? The guy that owns it is one of the richest men on the planet and they treat their warehouse staff like dogs .

Personally I won’t buy anything from Amazon just on principle .
