Great thread - I’ve already altered my choices several times but have settled on
Barry Richards
Sanath Jayasuriya
Don Bradman
Sachin Tendulkar
Andy Flower
Imran Khan
Gary Sobers
Shakib-Al-Hasan
Richard Hadlee
Rashid Khan
Sydney Barnes

However I never saw Bradman or Barnes and am obviously influenced by what my Dad and others said so could easily replace them with Steve Smith and Ian Botham or Jimmy Anderson - it’s impossible!!

This is pretty similar to mine.

But I'd have Botham in there

Boycott (england)
Iqbal (Bangladesh)
Bradman (Australia)
Lara (WI)
Kallis (SA)
Tendulkar (India)
Gilchrist (Australia)
Imran Khan (Pakistan)
Hadlee (NZ)
Muralitharan (SL)
Price (Zim)

sub Rashid Khan (Afghanistan)

I think we have just found the winner !

Deepest, darkest Sussex
No, what you've found is a CHEAT, with two Aussies in it

Well realistically the more the Aussies are involved the higher the chances of cheating occurring...

Certainly finding the Windies Player almost impossible to pick, Holding, Sobers, Richards or Lara?

I think a new thread of Best ever Test Sides per Country needs to be started...

Clive Lloyd and Courtney Walsh could well be in there too .

Good point, well made

I've compiled a few of these over the years - you can get some good teams.

I reckon it would be a close run thing between West Indies and South Africa for best all-time teams

Well we need Maurice Tate in the England attack!

That was hard. Wasted another hour of lockdown.

Players only since I started in cricket (1981)

Bloody Worthing!
At last! A thread that is even more fun than the Brexit one. Been watching cricket since 1964 and can remember the 1965 South Africans coming to Hove,

A Flower
E Joyce
B Lara
V Kohli
I Khan (occasional Worthing CC player)
K Sangakkara
M Proctor
I Botham
Shakib
R Hadlee
S Warne
12th man Rashid Khan

This team bats deep, has 4 class fast bowlers, 2 spinners (+ Rashid), 2 wicketkeepers and 3 Sussex players. I never could resist a world class all-rounder. Sobers is sulking in the corner.

I'd watch that team all day, in fact for 5 days! Only lacking a West Indian Quickie...

A bit bowler heavy I'd say
I like my team that had Botham at 8 and Hadlee at 9

Depends if you think if Kallis an all rounder . I was thinking the predominant batsman he became .
I reckon there are a few runs in that middle order ;-)

Hadlee at nine - yes, not bad. Time to consider stokes over sir Ian though

Great Side, Tendulkar over Gavaskar perhaps?

Means I would need a make-shift opener. I tried to balance the side with horses for courses.

Could have gone for an English opener but I reckon a specialist keeper over a keeper/batsman is the way to go. Foster is the best keeper of our generation.

Understood, obviously Tendulkar (Like Kohli) was the run maker so Gavaskar is probably the right answer for opener.

Horrible Saffir Oik but cant dismiss Graeme Smith!
