Define "better things"?

Dean Hammond carved out a decent career for himself at clubs who were generally around or just above us in the Withdean years. Steve Foster won the League Cup at Wembley with Luton. Danny Wilson did it twice: with Luton and Sheffield Wednesday.

Turn of phrase really. As a club we’ve never nurtured promising youngsters to emulate the academy at (cough!) Southampton for example. Shearer, Walcott and Bale spring to mind who really have gone bigger and better. Our ex-players tend to be small fry in comparison - aside from Lawrenson, and possibly Robinson for a season at Liverpool.

Mind you, Adam Virgo going to Celtic for a cool million (?) was definitely a bigger and better move.

One of the things I like most about Tariq is how he will get bullied, fouled, tripped... sometimes in ways that look quite painful... but he never makes a meal of it, never throws his toys out of the pram.

He'll just get on with the game, not let it affect his emotions. Great maturity from a young player.

One of the things I like most about Tariq is how he will bully, foul and trip.

Latest Lamptey feature on the YouTube channel shows him to be a really smart, sensible and likeable young man. The fact that he's also really talented means he has all the ingredients to be a real fans' favourite.
