He didnt have a lot to lose and may have won the day.specially if he could have stayed there until close of play and it rained overnight and tomorrow, so a calculated risk.

Root really bowling superb. You have to say the South Africans have batted absolutely abysmally today.
Root has always been a half decent bowler. Almost like the captain doesn't trust him enough to bowl more. Oh...........

If you have played the game then you know that an inside edge like that is really obvious (I believe BG has stated he has never played). It was a completely brainless decision, very South African!

Never at any decent level.
I got mixed up with Football as they have had to bring out VAR to combat the cheating and assumed the same with cricket.
He would have known he’d hit it. Pointless waste of a review.
