Can't remember the name of the pub at Witton train station but the food was pretty basic stuff, any info on away friendly establishments with a decent menu?

If you've got the time then head into the centre of Birmingham for some great restaurants that specialise in all types of food:
Cucina Rustica
This is probably the best Italian restaurant that is in a nice setting, service is good although a little pricey.
Sapore
More of a general all-round food restaurant. It's good value for money and does quick bites to eat.
Grand Central
This is the jewel in the crown. It does amazing fry-ups at reasonable prices. However, going online it has said that it's being refurbished at the moment. No mention of it when visited recently
I or we always say that if a restaurant is busy and has plenty of staff around then it's a good sign and there are so many in the centre of Birmingham, then you'll find something that suits what type of food you want.
Hope this helps slightly. I'm sure there's Brum-based Albion fans that can recommend other top places.

For anyone driving, the smokey Barrels on the A45 has ample parking and a relatively recent new owner who does an excellent curry. It will also have the 12.30 KO on. It about 20 mins drive from there.

In all honesty there’s little to commend the area around Villa Park. On the other hand, the city centre has plenty to offer in terms of pubs and restaurants. Those travelling by train will find loads of choice within a few hundred yards of New Street station. If travelling by car, I’d be tempted to park at Birmingham International and then get the 10 minute train ride into the city centre.

Not a bad shout. Only issue is that parking at international is 8 quid. Tile Hill Station which is close by meanwhile is free parking and plenty of space at weekends albeit fewer trains to New Street (3 compared with 6)
When we played Villa in the FAC (was it Feb 2011?), there was a dumpy working mens social club near the eastern side of the ground, which was opened to away fans too. Packed.
The Grand Central still appears to be open for business but being more breakfast/lunch themed, it's not open in the evenings (when I checked last night) so that would be my recommendation, especially for a light meal.
Checking online at certain times of the day (mornings) will show almost all as closed. Why can't they just show their opening hours? Otherwise, you'd automatically think they're shut for refurbishment?
Anyway, hopefully I've been of some help and you enjoy Saturday.

Went here the day of the FA Cup match and it was excellent. Happy for away fans to mix but that attitude might change given we’re now in the Prem and police advice may differ.

Barton Arms is open for away fans on Saturday, we have been in contact with them, they have a restaurant as well.
