I would have been able to get tickets for Man City and Newcastle away but wondered if those with more experience might have an idea if the Liverpool fixture normally sells out? Will wait a couple of weeks to see if the fixture time changes for TV before booking accommodation but what do you reckon the chances of getting a ticket are?

You can't sit down in the away end; your knees will be wrapped around the person in front of you, the concourse is enclosed in wire mesh and your choice of drink will be restricted to er... Carlsberg. It's good to say you've been to Anfield but you wouldn't want to go twice.

Even at Millwall you are able to walk around everywhere before the game. Everything was surrounded by metal fencing and it felt like you were boarding a plane when going through security, never had such a strong cuddle during a search.

Only asking because we drove, went into town before the match and then got the tram back- we were free to wander round the stadium- their outdoor bar / square bit etc and made our way round to the away end. Ironically to get to the away turnstiles we then had to go out and round some fencing to get to the ‘secure zone’. So I guess the security only works if you come by coach or happen to arrive at that entrance.

Absolutely pointless trying to separate fans like that as there is zero chance of any trouble IMHO.


Facilities seemed pretty standard to me- poor that they sold out of programmes, beer in recyclable plastic beakers made the concourse look a bit like a kids party, and the pies looked like bog standard circa 1982 affairs... pretty typical of most grounds..

We arrived by tram and had to walk thru the fanzone and club shop area and outside entertainment halfway round the ground to get to the away turnstiles. Repeat in reverse to get out. (much the same as the Amex for visiting fans arriving by train)
Don't know of any grounds that let you inside to walk all the way round

Incidentally how long was the tram queue after the game, we chose to walk as we were attempting the catch the 1735, which we made with 5 minutes to spare

Don't need to catch the tram to walk around, just walk in one of the entrances off the road. Once we got to the queue took about 20 mins to board. We were back in a pub in the Printworks near Picadilly Gardens approx 5:45 - 6pm
