Have a lovely roast in The Bridge Inn in Shoreham. About £11, well cooked and good portions.

Had an excellent half-and-half beef and pork roast at the Bolney Stage a couple of weeks back. Also the Half Moon at Warninglid is very good, but a bit more pricey.

In an AO.COM survey in yesterdays papers Brighton was the lowest % of people in England who still had a Sunday Roast only 55%. The top was Sheffield with 72%.

I have to say, I have never found a pub that does a good Sunday roast, but that is mostly because pubs can't provide the essential ingredients that constitute a proper Sunday roast.

More than you can possibly eat
Crackling the size of a reasonably sized table-tennis bat
Hours to linger over your roast meat of choice and wine, followed by a huge Apple Crumble laced with spices
A comfortable chair next to a log fire to collapse into afterwards, with all the Sunday papers and the remote control

Pubs do what pubs do brilliantly; but Sunday roasts isn't something they do well. Sunday roasts can only be done properly at home.

Correct. And Proper roast potatoes can't be done for catering. I never have a roast out, will only be disappointed

I would agree with that as my roast has to have 3/4 of a 12 in plate of vegetables including 6 or 8 roast potatoes depending on size but must include beans either broad or runner both frozen when in season, a green vegetable usually broccoli cos wife likes it but dropped in the water and taken out soon after, parsnips or swede carrots,. peas and either marrow or cauliflower and when in season sprouts... It must be remembered I am an oldie brought up just after the war when food came off ration and it wasnt usual to eat out.

As you couldn't make it today, try The Plough in Henfield. New ownership, fine Sunday roast.
