They triggered article 50 which was clearly respecting the result. Now it transpires that actually it was based on lies so by having a people’s vote is not disrespecting the result, it is merely checking whether people who voted for unicorns and fairies are happy with a pile of dung.

Leaving respects the result. Now it transpires a minority government and majority remain parliament have f*d up the leaving process the campaign has nothing to do with it.

Just back from a day out a People’s vote march in London, estimates around 1m, whatever the number it was way more than the one last October.

Great to see true patriots from all age groups who really care about where this country is heading, so many union jacks and such a positive atmosphere with no d*ck heads .

Some interesting conversations, one that stood out was a conversation with some Honda workers from Swindon blaming Brexit for losing and factory and also some harsh words about many on the shop floor who believed the lies and voted out. Really going to hurt their town

Brilliant speech from Michael Heseltine, admitting that Mrs. T would have been horrified to the place where the Tory right have taken this country

Well I didn't go up to show "my support". I've been to a number of these things to observe, the most most surreal being the countryside alliance one.

What I observed today was hundreds and hundreds and thousands of "ordinary" people. Most striking was the elderly, somewhat smashing away the argument that anyone over a certain age would definitely vote out.

I expected a coalition of rainbow flags, the socialist worker and those using the day to promote their own causes, "women for the EU", "vegans against Brexit" etc...

But I didn't. Just ordinary people, the "losers", the "moaners", the frankly forgotten by the Political Class. How ironic.

It led me to conclusion that many people voted Brexit not to make to own lives better, but simply to make others lives worse in some form of demented revenge. Against what ?

If you consider yourself a patriot (which I do), watch Hestletine's speech on You Tube. Awesome.

If you really believe that, then this will enrage you beyond belief!

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/2015–16_New_Zealand_flag_referendums

Is this flag thing the most undemocratic referendum process you’ve encountered?

Why would i be enraged.
They ended up with a final deciding binary referendum which they have honoured. You can have various referendum to get you to the point where you ask the final deciding vote, which should be respected.
And no its not a process we could have done as negotiations are contingent on previously already deciding to leave and handing in your notice

Absolutely, and one that can be rectified (to an extent) by asking the people if this is how they still want things to be.
It's the only democratic way.

Indeed, we now know the Brexit lies were not deliverable. What's is left is May's deal, parliament clearly doesn't want it, but it really is down to people to decide if we would to go ahead with Brexit

Yes this will divide, but can we be any more divided than we are now?.

With all due respect, the campaign has a lot to do with it.
People were fed lies and half-truths.
That is why the only democratic thing to do is let them re-evaluate and think again. That's what rational people do.

I watched that take place. The people doing it weren't your usual anarchist, but more of a demographic you would see at a Coldplay concert.

The forgotten 48% percent.

Yeah it was a bit of a mix of Coldplay and the Waitrose shopper, Brexit I'm afraid is a bit of a class war

The 48% have been hung out to dry, a lot of people I know voted Tory before but won't again until there is a massive change in their party.

*sigh* I can see why people have trouble with your posts/reasoning.

Strange fellow, indeed.

No you were quite clear, even if you didnt mean to let it slip out. As far as you are concerned being in the EU without all the same terms horrifies you. Stands to reason bog standard EU membership in your view is a bit shit

Are you deliberately obtuse or just on a wind-up? My point (and quite clear it was) is that why would we give up what we already have, yet want to rejoin with far less than we already have?

I don't know you at all, but I do worry about you.

And you have only just learned of this? And to think that many Brexitiers have been labelled as stupid, I wonder why?

Mind you, as a confirmed remainer, the protest in London calling for a second referendum was ruined by a poison dwarf who holds no position in the UK parliament having the temerity to address a mainly English crowd on why Brexit should be stopped. Keep ya beak out Krankie!

Can you explain what happens with your “rational “ second referendum if

1. The majority decision again is within 10% of the other.

2. Leave win the vote again.

?

Like half a million more unemployed and an immediate recession etc If lies and half-truths invalidate election results then no election is valid.

I agree with most remainers but to say the forgotten 48% is somewhat fantasy. It's the 48% that have been the most vocal and certainly the most supported by the politicians, hardly forgotten, for if they had we would have had a hard brexit and left by now.

My job most probably relies on a soft brexit/no leave, what is needed is a cross party resolution. The problem is though the idiot MP's.

So, we disagree, like half the country do. Now that more joined-up thinking has been/is being done, why do you think it is unreasonable to give people another (more informed - on both sides) say?

What do you have to lose? Seriously?
