Millwall chairman John Berylson is to refund the cost of tickets for fans who travelled to Wednesday night's humiliating FA Cup defeat at Bradford.

Manager Ian Holloway apologised to supporters after his side were thumped 4-0 and the 456 fans who purchased their tickets in advance of the game will now get their money back.

A statement on Berylson's behalf on Millwall's website, www.millwallfc.co.uk, read: "He wishes to thank everyone for their continued support during difficult times."

He also pledged to back under-fire Holloway in the transfer market in a bid to strengthen the Lions squad as they attempt to move away from relegation trouble.

It's a nice touch, but I've always wondered if the players/managers/chairmen who offer this realise that often the ticket price is a drop in the ocean compared to the cost, not to mention effort and hassle, of travelling away.

Pathetic. On this basis clubs like Hartlepool should be PAYING their fans to come.

Ridiculous.

Why is it ridiculous? A nice touch by the chairman l would have thought. Ok so it is only the match ticket he is paying for, not the probably substantial travelling costs involved, but as the saying goes, every little bit helps.

Certainly if l had been one of the 456 who travelled, l would have appreciated the gesture.

How is Holloway still in that job?

Because he's a member of that rubbish band of English Serial Loser Managers who ALWAYS get jobs. They never need to worry about where the next job is coming from. There's always some sucker chairman willing to take them on. They'll doubtless hire Colin Wanker before the month is out. Or 'arry.

It is a nice gesture but surely it doesn't really warrant it?

Part of going to the game and supporting your team is accepting that you may not like the experience. At all.

Heard David Pleat say on 5Live last night that apparently he's very well paid in comparison to other Championship managers on a long contract, so perhaps they can't afford to pay him off.. imagine they are hoping for some miracle resignation like we got with Sami!

Yes that's true, but by all accounts the performance was embarassingly bad, and l would imagine it was only the really hard core Millwall support who travelled, so hey, l think they deserved the gesture as a one off.

Nice too that the chairman realised how appallingly badly they played.

On the basis that Tony Bloom regularly travels by train to away games all around the country I would say he probably does. In fact Paul Barber travelled with him to Doncaster last season
