Gaffer, just seen your result. Injured?

Was chatting around the course with the boys for 2 miles and my flexor hallucis longus twinged again. Walked *♂️ the last mile to WIN the latest NSC challenge of slowest finisher. Out of the Masters 60+ 800m and 5000m at Lewes on Monday.
Good news is the wife has just this minute had a phone call from the NHS for an MRI scan on her knee at 6:30pm Monday Haywards Heath(start time for the 800m). This is just 4 days after seeing the orthopaedic surgeon instead of 6-8 weeks.
Good seeing the lads at Hove Park.

Shame to have missed out, and disappointing to hear of the gaffer’s injury today.

I’ve not had a chance to make a Park Run since October last year, so I’ll hopefully get to one soon.

I took the chance to get onto the SDW today and very nice too it was. The Saddlescombe to Pyecombe hill is brutal still!

Bloody Worthing!
On a bit of a whim I decided to enter the Horsham 10k this morning. Nice if undulating course and pretty hot. 45.52 was OK but nowhere near winning the category. Brighton Phoenix turned up mob handed including the legend that is the 69 year old Paul Whelpton.

My partner ran for Pheonix and won herself a bottle of wine and a trophy, sounds like a nice event.

Fantastic to see a large contingent of the gang yesterday - followed up parkrun with a pacey hour of Downslink running this morning.

Mojo returning, I hope...

Look after yourself, Gaffer!

Change to the Brighton Marathon route next year - no more Power Station !

https://brightonmarathonweekend.co....Kp4ksP2TLKSHcQRD8abrHcM4qUQd-R4BN4klldpuSZbF4

Personally, I think that's pony. Not only because it's where I would (if I ever ran it again) get a lot of support because I'm from Shoreham-by-Sea), but also because the bit that replaces it seems equally as dull. If I'm seeing it right, they've replaced the run out to the PS with a longer stretch up and down the London Road? And that's it

Also, they might bang on about the 'ultra-supportive community of Hove', but the Shoreham Port end had built up quite a following over the years.

Power Station was always one of my favourite bits……..bit of relative peace and quiet before the manic seafront.

Power Station was the final iconic challenge before the final stretch from lagoon to finish. A big test and talking point

5 BMs for me and I think I only ran the Power Station out and back on the first one. Nice walk.

On the first BM running thru the PS was like being in the setting for a Zombies type film. I was so hot and partly distressed that I would have happily dived in the harbour. The lone DJ and a few cheerleaders seemed incongruous with the surroundings and the heavily laden “runners”’shuffling their way from one bollard to another.

Happy memories!!

Another update to the table please, when you or knocky1 gets a moment. 22:35 at Preston Park this morning gets me a 74.98% AG which should move me up a place or two 🙂. Gutted not to get 75%, so all still to play for in the old git stakes

21.28 on a blustery Worthing prom. 3rd best AG out of 400 runners but mainly just relieved the hammy didn't misbehave.

Good news. I'm still battling the 26 bones in my right foot. My last rheumatoid arthritis flare up locked them up in 2016 and the result was random calf issues starting last year. First run in 2 weeks today and think hours of self massage has got it.
1500m at Eastbourne in 10 days is my first goal. 50/50 chance of getting fit, so I'm also entering the javelin for a bit of fun.

26 bones! I demand a recount. That sounds pretty grim, but looking forward to hearing 1500 result. Good luck mate.

100th Junior ParkRun for my 10yo son this morning. My12 yo daughter clocked up her 100th JPR two weeks ago. Both regularly finish in the top 3 now and hopefully a habit for life has been formed. Thanks to all ParkRun volunteers

Congrats to them, hopefully with any luck they will continue.

But my son did over 30 Junior and 20+ 5k park runs until the volunteers banned him for being underage despite me being with sight of him.

That stopped him from running ever since, hope he goes back to it, but weights are more his thing now.

My daughter did 40 Parkruns and has diverted to football, she is not interested in running any distance at all now.

However, I do hope to persuade her to come out with me to do some pre-season stamina conditioning!
