Disruption this morning owing to a broken down train at Lancing and a fatality at Havant.

Shame as they are the nicest trains on the line. Although I do really miss slam doors. Loved the compartments and buffet cars. Better times.

It was more than 3 minutes. Also we also crawled between Three Bridges and Horley and then in the Purley area. 10 mins late today. 10 minutes yesterday and a good couple of hours on Monday. Southern have responded to my latest complaint. Got an efficiency consultant onboard. Wonder if it will...

Another lousy journey in making. Sat at Preston Park waiting for late running gatwick express to go in front of us. Nkw stuck behind it up to London. We could have gone straight through in front of it, but Southern controllers demknstrate their wisdom and keep us waiting 10 mins give or take.

Well not really. With trains and scheduled station stops (esp in Sussex), it is reasonable to expect it will take a set route and arrive at a designated time, as advertised. With the roads, no one is promising me that if I drive to Dartford from Brighton i will arrive within a couple of minutes...

To an extent, but distance and route can vary accordingly. Plus Southern advertise getting me to station x at y time. Driving makes no such promises hence you cannot guarantee being where you want to be at a set time. With trains there is a level of expectancy.

So I have to lose my own private time on the basis Southern cant keep the schedule they advertise delivery of? Righto.

unfortunately working in London means no choice but trains. What I earn, could not match locally. Plus not willong to move away from where I grew up. if you want to happy clap and be some sort of cheerleader for the train companies, you be my guest.

Back to normal today. Crawling up the line at least 7-8 minutes late with some distance to go. No explanation or apology from onboard guard. Usual contempt for customers I guess from Southern trains.

2 hours 50 minutes to get from Croydon to Durrington, and 3 trains. What a wonderful transport infrastructure we have. The £5 delay repay vouchers are so generous in compensation.

I really think they do not anticipate problems until it happens.

I will try and get some info for you. Quite hard though given I am now in UK. Maybe we should pay Victorian prices for the crap services we get. I have never known such poor value for money for anything as my annual season ticket. A one million pound Lada would seem better value for money.

So you mention costs again. Cant spend any money eh? lets carry on, on the cheap and have crap services. How much money does crap trains cost the economy I wonder. Lost productivity etc. You cannot defend the dross we get in terms of trains in Sussex.
