    Ashes: 3rd Test @ Perth

Looks like he is due another big innings then ? just in time to give the IPL a little reminder ?

Other than Stokes, we might as well throw all the names in the hat and draw them out one by one till we get 6 batsmen a wikky and four bowlers. You can't polish a turd

My point was that Cook + team are not burnt out by the treadmill of county commitments. This was in response to a suggestion the players were tired.

Is there anyone in this team or squad who stands out as a leader of men ?

    Ashes: 3rd Test @ Perth

How many balls faced or bowled in County cricket though ? Bear in mind that other than the odd occasion these players play international cricket exclusively. Throw in the separate squads for Test, one day and 20/20 internationals and I think that it isn't too much. Besides, they should be good...

    Ashes: 3rd Test @ Perth

I was only viewing this series but that proves it goes back a long way and is probably the root of our problem.

    Ashes: 3rd Test @ Perth

I did toy with getting up early in the forlorn hope that we could still be batting but decided to stay in bed as hope is sometimes not enough. Well done Ben Stokes though, 6 England innings before one of our batsmen scores three figures succinctly shows why we are losing 3-0 .... one century in...

Bless 'em....that's the sort of thing to be doing when you are staring humiliation in the face ! Ps, Never forget your grammar at Christmas, it's a time for families.

Even If they played out of their skin it would not help us, I really think they need bedding in at home rather throwing them in to the bear pit that is an Ashes Test series. Stokes has played well and I would love it if he could make a pyrrhic century but it is fairly meaningless in the context...

    Ashes: 3rd Test @ Perth

Interesting stat. However we should factor in the fact that each player plays 50% of their Tests at home so obviously, we should assume that Cook is a better batsman due to the variable pitch and movement we get over here when compared to Sachin getting lots of nice spin and Clarke getting lots...

    Ashes: 3rd Test @ Perth

Looks like the pain is set to continue, however, we can't hide behind poor umpiring decisions or bad weather or being unlucky. We are in the position we deserve to be simply because we have been beaten by a better team. No amount of hope, positive thinking, jingoism or patriotism can cover up...

That's the problem, its difficult to step down as captain and stay in the team. But, I agree, Cook can bounce back as a batsman but never really was a decent captain. Good individual performances and some fortunate weather has covered up his failings.

    Ashes: 3rd Test @ Perth

Well that's a load of balderdash. Prior has hardly played this season. He had the 8 Tests this year plus a few four day county matches, in which often he was picked as a batsman and didn't keep plus a few one day games. Central contracts mean that Test Squad players have very little actual play...

    Ashes: 3rd Test @ Perth

Other than a few minor changes there is nothing in the cupboard. This lot will limp on getting hammered but there needs to be a major overhaul in time for next summer. All the centrally contracted players need to go back to their counties and re discover some form or be dropped. After that its...

    Ashes: 3rd Test @ Perth

I got up for an early morning leak and had a look at the score and was not surprised. Went back to bed and glad that I did. Abject failure bang on schedule. We even have the plaintive, sad wail of the trumpeter back.

    Ashes: 3rd Test @ Perth

No, but I have effectively written the script for the screenplay of what is going to occur in the next 3 days. I doubt anything I could say would motivate this team at the moment, if their own coaches, manager, psychiatrists and dieticians and former players can't do it, no one can.

    Ashes: 3rd Test @ Perth

It's gone already, even putting 400 on the board will not trouble the aussies unduly. We have 6 wickets left to try to make another 280 and we are scoring too slowly as it is anyway. Frankly They will either winkle us out or constrict our batsmen until they make a mistake re. Cook and KP. Then...

    Ashes: 3rd Test @ Perth

They say you always remember what you were doing at great moments in history. today I had just pulled up in Sainsbury's car park when Boycott said what a lovely batting track at Perth this tour. Then we lost the Ashes as Cook spanked the ball straight to Warner. Well thats that folks, it's a...

    Ashes: 3rd Test @ Perth

Nice to see a bit of fight at last...... Root's decision is certainly dodgy but that's cricket. However it really does not help when we have been largely blown away all series legitimately and now we start getting dodgy decisions. Cracking quote by Boyc's referring to KP's suicidal running in...
