That was completely different……..he spotted a gap. He’s now trying the knuckleball/rapidly dipping kick which he’s clearly been hitting well in training (otherwise he wouldn’t be taking them) but getting maybe one every three games or so to try it in ‘real life’ is looking like a very tall order...

Great plan. So based on all the observations and data from training, who do you suggest takes them instead?

Dunky has to score one in 15 to be at par on direct free kicks He’s evidently the best in training (otherwise he wouldn’t be taking them) Has Fati ever scored a direct free kick ? How much does he practice it ? What are his tracmaster stats for dip/speed etc ?

But……...what has Fati done that makes you think he could hit a decent free kick ? Dunk is only taking the because he’ll have the best numbers in training……not sure what else we can go on. If we get one in a different position (ie more to the left or right) suspect someone else will be taking...

Yeah but that’s the classic ‘missed a penalty’ thing when it’s put just wide of the post…..’he couldn’t even hit the goal’. Wasn’t aiming at the goal, was aiming at a spot 6 inches inside the post and missed it by 6 inches. It’s not ‘simply a miss’ imo…….6 inches wide of the post is more...

That 32% includes all those that go limply into the keepers arms though (ie worse - imo - than Dunk’s effort that hit the bar).

Par for scoring from direct free kicks is about 6%, so as long as he gets 1 in 15 he’s doing ok, so might be a while yet :smile:

If we had better options they’d be taking them. If he scores in in about 15 that’s about par for direct free kicks. You’re going to have a long wait :lolol:

Small margins….the one on Thurs was probably 2 inches away from at least making the keeper work. Pretty sure he’s taking them because he’s the best we’ve got based on what happens in training…….this stuff is analysed to death with sophisticated tech……so anyone else taking them is likely to be...
