I will be happy to revise my initial " 50:50 Chance of his existence ", to a " I KNOW he exists for a FACT", should at least 10% of the fans who share my grievance re: the Heritage Stones be prepared to turn up next Tuesday.
Firstly, I'm sorry to hear that, JATGH and I can understand your viewpoint. What I am struggling with is why there seems to be a problem separating 'religion' from a concept that a god/deity MAY, just may exist.
To me, they do not need to go hand in hand at all.
The point? Because it would be an interesting thing to discover. I'm with you on the praying /praising, a waste of time, imo but good luck to those that feel the need.
I do not worship a god, nor do I believe in the bible and the only time I have spent in a church is at a wedding. I could not be described as religious in any way, shape or form. However, to discount the possibility of some kind of creative input because of the lack of scientific evidence...
I find it amusing that even those who are spending so much time stating that it's fact that god doesn't (or can't ) exist, yet express a hope that it IS true. The mind boggles!
It's interesting how this has gone from a belief in 'God' (I am assuming that the OP wasn't referring to the biblical one), to a tennis match between christians and non-christians. Most of the posts lead me to believe that there's not much to choose between them.
I'm not too fond of christians...
Likewise - I don't 'believe' as such, but I am open to the possibility. I find that those that refuse to accept that possibility equally narrow-minded as those that insist that it is a given.
Now't wrong with hearing some views on it all, though.
Where did I say it was 'good'? I did say there were 'some' practical rules...not all, some. Just as there are some sickening ones.
As to finding a random man on the street, he'd have to be a pretty special 'random' to write something as enduring as the bible.
I really don't think the bible...
I have no idea why anybody would accept the 7 day creation - I certainly don't. Nor do I believe what the bible says - though it does have it's use in putting forward some practical 'rules' in how to run a successful society.
I'm a great 'believer' in science and the measurable, but I also...
That's not rude at all - but there is NO solid evidence to prove it from either point of view, hence the need to accept the possibilty that either side may be right.
And you just have to love those that voted either way as fact! :)
'Possibilities that YOU think are impossible' - That doesn't mean they don't exist, only that they don't exist for you. That's not faith, that's reason.
