[Travel] Why are all these flights being delayed/cancelled ?

So, even though I've never actually posted what you claim I have posted, you 'know' that what I actually posted wasn't what I think and that what I actually think is whatever you think I think, despite me never having thought it or posted it ? Rightio :lolol:

[Travel] Why are all these flights being delayed/cancelled ?

It's definitely not just Brexit. My post was simply pointing out that a lot of people in the industry are saying that Brexit is having a major effect, despite the complete denial of it have any effect whatsoever by a number of people on this thread (hence the video). I agree completely that...

[Travel] Why are all these flights being delayed/cancelled ?

I'm sorry to point this out, but you are quoting all sorts of things for which you have no reputable source and have been completely unable to validate. I gave four sources of senior people within the Airline industry explaining the impact Brexit has had on the industry. You immediately started...

[Travel] Why are all these flights being delayed/cancelled ?

Of course. You wouldn't believe what's in the briefings HT gives me regularly  But I guess figures like that it must be in the public domain somewhere, so maybe you could just link to that

[Travel] Why are all these flights being delayed/cancelled ?

I completely agree that the Government/airlines handling of Furlough isn't innocent in all of this, but you give us a link to the source of the 70k/37K figures ?

Well I bet they're glad that they didn't get out and limit their attempts to recruit to only those with Spanish nationality then

[Travel] Why are all these flights being delayed/cancelled ?

Airlines use post-Brexit loophole to bring in foreign workers British Airways, easyJet and TUI are using an employment loophole to operate flights with EU crews without British work visas, as they grapple with staff shortages...

[Travel] Why are all these flights being delayed/cancelled ?

I believe that the underlying reason is trying to ramp up the recruitment and training of staff Internationally following Covid. I suspect all countries have the same problems with those staff having now gone off to do something else and not wanting to come back. It's just that the other...

And sadly, it doesn't look like it's ending any time soon Jet2 boss blames airport hell on Brexit 'taking millions out of the job market' Jet2 boss Steve Heapy is said to have made the comments during talks with Grant Shapps this week after the transport secretary rejected calls for airlines...

[Travel] Why are all these flights being delayed/cancelled ?

That's it, I love going on holiday with them and they know I'm a soft touch. They both have more disposable income than me these days though  My daughter and her partner are off to travel round Australia/New Zealand for a year next Friday, so I'll only need to pay for my son and his...

[Travel] Why are all these flights being delayed/cancelled ?

I think that about sums it up, (nod to dazzer6666's post above) - result complete clusterf*** Maybe the 2020's will be remembered as the decade of the clusterf*** It's certainly started that way, and shows absolutely no signs of getting any better :lolol:

[Travel] Why are all these flights being delayed/cancelled ?

I was chatting to a friend yesterday who used to be cabin crew and they said that immediately after Covid, the hospitality trade picked up far quicker than the airlines and was suffering a severe shortage of staff , so they got themselves a front of house job at a good restaurant paying more...

[Travel] Why are all these flights being delayed/cancelled ?

Of course, you could have entered into the grown up discussion and subject of the thread and suggested why the Airline industry is having so many problems. (The actual subject of the thread). You could have expanded and given your opinion of the reasons you think lie behind the multiple staff...

[Travel] Why are all these flights being delayed/cancelled ?

It definitely hasn't  Out of interest, what reasons do you think lie behind the staff shortages in the Airline industry, NHS, Food preparation, Logistics, Hospitality, Care Homes, Food and Fruit picking etc ???

[Travel] Why are all these flights being delayed/cancelled ?

I agree completely that rises in wages is a good thing. As long as raging inflation and spiralling cost of living aren't a concern ???

[Travel] Why are all these flights being delayed/cancelled ?

So, if understand this correctly, following the Covid shut down, the main problem is finding people who will take low paid jobs ? Maybe they should try and recruit low paid workers from other industries like logistics, food preparation, care workers, hospitality, fruit picking, that sort of...

[Travel] Why are all these flights being delayed/cancelled ?

I believe it was reported to be a 'technical problem' with Easyjet systems (a couple of days after we flew back on Easyjet ) and now seems to have spread to other airlines/companies. Anyone know the reason behind what appears from the outside to be a complete clusterf*** ?
