A Very Real Problem: Lack of Sports Facilities in Brighton & Hove

It'll be the whitest elephant since Bournemouth council paid somebody to drop a couple of sandbags in the sea at a cost of several million quid and declared itself a surfing centre. Really needs the inevitable financial inquest to be held before it gets approval on this occurrence because a...

A Very Real Problem: Lack of Sports Facilities in Brighton & Hove

Totally agree. council seem to think they have to spend a shitload of money to 'attract' people to Brighton. When in fact (apart from maybe the Brighton Festival) if they never spent a single penny, people would still flock here same as they do to bath or Bristol or Stratford-upon-Avon. If it...

A Very Real Problem: Lack of Sports Facilities in Brighton & Hove

Seems to me obvious that the council has taken its eye seriously off the ball as regards people who actually live here. Sporting amenities such as a state of the art swimming pool or ice rink complex for local people playing second or third fiddle to some shallow attraction to make a visitor...

A Very Real Problem: Lack of Sports Facilities in Brighton & Hove

Agree. Monorail in both directions, to the King Alfred one way and to the Marina the other way, with a Monorail terminus right outside the Palace Pier and the car traffic being diverted somewhere (anywhere) else. If they can dispel the traffic from outside East Croydon station then its a...

A Very Real Problem: Lack of Sports Facilities in Brighton & Hove

Agree. An ice rink ticks all the boxes for the council and wider government's agenda to get the general populace up and active. And a town this size should really have an ice hockey team, it would be an attractive alternative to the Albion, particularly seeing as how it would be in the middle of...

Any chance that if the i360 goes ahead then the West Pier 'Trust' can be removed from the equation?

A Very Real Problem: Lack of Sports Facilities in Brighton & Hove

Totally agree, what a criminally short-sighted decision that was. IMHO the i360 would no more attract visitors to Brighton & Hove than the Spinnaker Tower attracts visitors to Pompey. Visitors visit towns for the bigger picture, the i360 would just be a sideshow, same as the Brighton Eye.
