I'm guessing there's not much to say apart from "they're ugly" or "the view of the ocean is impeded" or some such argument.

Not sure either way about the view. I can see how the novelty would wear off after a time, since they are effectively dozens of 100+ft high man-made windmills. But then people don't tend to give pylons a second glance these days, do they? I think it's other issues that concern me about this...
