Bunch of teams in Spain would also want a new keeper. They don't have any money though but if it can be sorted somehow, it wouldnt surprise me. Leicester feels like another candidate. Not sure he is quite the level Chelsea will be looking for.
Fully expect Jason Steele to remain in goal for the rest of the season, Rob Sanchez to be sold in the summer and for a new keeper to be brought in from academy or elsewhere. Pretty sure Robert wants to keep his place in the Spanish national team squad and that isn't happening while on the...
Like I said before the game (to some disbelief), I think we've probably seen the last of Sanchez in a Brighton shirt.
I'm very happy for Jason but feck knows if this is good in the long term.
If Rob Sanchez reaches his full potential and turns into one of the top 10 keepers in the world = £50m+ sale to some dirty good team somewhere. Would be ok.
If Rob Sanchez merely remains a slightly above average PL keeper (= top 30-ish keeper in the world) = goalie position secured for the next...
No Brighton player is as far as I know yet to have a 100% pass completion rate in any game, meaning the entire squad is filled with players that always have a mistake in them. Get rid of everyone.
He is indeed way off the 12% save mark as he has only saved one penalty (and that was for Rochdale or Forest Green). If his penalty stats were average, he'd have saved another 2 penalties in his career. Would that be nice? Sure. Is it a big deal that he hasn't saved another 2 penalties? To some...
Lots of talk about Sanchez and penalties.
On average, goalkeepers in the PL save 12% of the penalties. Or just over 1 in 10. And since most teams concede 6-7 penalties per season, the average PL goalkeeper makes less than one 1 penalty save per season.
Why people are obsessed with whether...
Ah Kuipers then?
Whoever was running the Swedish Brighton fan-site back in the early 00s was obsessed with that man, he got like 9/10 every game.
Arguably, before the GP era, if I randomly met a Brighton fan, Kuipers, Zamora and Vicente would be pretty much the only ones I'd be able to talk...
Unfortunately 100% of all keepers make a few errors so I don't think that would stop top teams.
Thankfully pretty much every top team in Europe got their goalie situation settled. I see zero chance of him moving this summer.
Fantastic aerial ability, and only getting better. A lot more better at judging what he can and can not go for compared to only half a year ago.
It is also a good stat for the rest of the team, showing that opponents struggle to attack through the middle and instead have to go with the usually...
If it goes over the wall yes, because then he can follow the trajectory and make the save. In this case it goes through the wall (which isnt supposed to happen and the boys in the wall have to take the blame) and just sees it too late and there's not much he can do about it.
