Yep.
Ali is a spinner who can't spin the ball and can't bat under pressure. He should be nowhere near the England team. Bairstow is 5 years too old and has lost his mobility. Never a test class keeper right now, and his batting hasn't been adequate.
England being nothing for loads of wickets at lunch ✔️
Ali throwing his wicket away as usual ✔️
Stokes bailing out England again ✔️
Australia showing us that batting in the sun isn't that difficult after all ✔️
Selectors, please can this be the last we see of YJB and Moeen Ali in this series...
Every single English wicket was caught. And how many did Australia drop? One? We dropped 3 in the first hour yesterday, and continued to shell them.
That's the difference isn't it.
We will see. I doubt we'll see Australia giving away their wickets like Bairstow and Ali (just as I predicted earlier), and they will show us that this is actually still more of a batting wicket than two sub-300 scores suggests.
You say Ali can bat, and he can - but when was the last time he made a serious contribution under pressure? He's one of the worst for throwing his wicket away. If he makes more than 25 today I'll be very surprised.
Exactly. As Geoff Boycott reminded everyone shortly after the Lords test, it was Australia who bleated that bodyline wasn't in the spirit of the game and that the laws needed to change. In fact, they then threatened not to tour in 1938 if England bowled bodyline at them. Eventually, the laws...
Sorry, nobody has disputed it's a legal dismissal, but so is the Mankad run out. Personally I think Mankad is fair enough if a warning has been given, as that is the non striking batsman trying to gain an advantage. But this? Where is the justification for what Carey did?
To recap, Bairstow...
Really? They should be all out by now - for about 150. Plus if you think this looks like a low score, wait until we bat with our long tail and the Australians finding new ways to cheat.
