I think this could be a case of she thinks he's guilty as she can't remember what happened due to alcohol. He thinks he's innocent as she seemed to consent. Stalemate. Just a guess as can't remember all the details of the case.

Same. This case was always in a very grey area. The fact his mate got off when he did the same thing before always seemed a bit odd. The Evans website also threw in some compelling evidence although I acknowledge it was done by his team and probably rather one sided. Will be interesting to see...

The complainant stated that she had no memory of any sexual activity with either of the two men. So, am I correct in saying even the complainant has no idea if they were guilty or not? Seems an odd case this one every time I read it..!

Very true. Reminds me of a story I posted on here a few weeks back of a girl I worked with who told me off for saying 'Jesus' (obviously no offence was meant & I even apologised...) A few months down the line she was up the duff with a man who she wasn't married to & I believe was still married...

Ok so say someone gets convicted of rape when they were very intoxicated & they thought the other person was consenting but the other person either wasn't or the court deemed the accused of not having consent is the same as someone who plans a rape down a dark lane, stalks their victim for weeks...

Is exactly the point I was making. Just the use of the term for someone like Ched evans to some ****er who's battered someone over the head then raped them didn't sit easy with me. Of course the very fact that the sentance for the crime of rape varies so much between cases has to be honest...

But date rape would be a calculated deliberate vile act that had been calculated over a long period of time. Trust me I agree rape is rape and it's a sick disgusting crime. But does everyone who's convicted of the crime get the same amount of time inside? No they obviously don't. So surely...
