Has anyone given any thought as to how the Number Ten office might respond to this petition?
My guess is that the response will be along the lines of:-
"The matter is currently awaiting a decision by the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, who is considering...
The approach to other Clubs in connection with the forthcoming new initiative aimed at their supporters DOES involve getting the Falmer message on to other Clubs' official AND unofficial pages.
The "delay" in getting anything on the BHA website about the petition was nothing to do with "high...
As per the post above ... if you are going to do this, PLEASE contact the Club first.
Again, I have a fear that contacting other clubs about this petition might get in the way of another BIG initiative that is currently being worked up (very carefully and at a very senior level as far as the...
The lesson to be learned is that if people are going to do something like this for the Falmer campaign, then it would be helpful to let the Club know from the outset (at the beginning of January in this case), not wait until less than a week before the closing date.
If we'd have had a thousand...
A major initiative is currently being worked up by Falmer For All to involve other clubs.
It isn't this petition - which will have closed by the time the Forest game comes round.
The sad thing is that it might have been effective, if there had been time to get things properly organised.
However many people sign now, it will be a lot less than the 61,000 who signed the last one.
What bothers me is that, at this very minute, Lewes District Council are finalising their submission to Ruth Kelly's department, on their Appeal against Prescott's decision. The deadline is next Thursday. Part of their case will be a claim that "people don't want the stadium".
One of the NIMBYs who has picked up on the thread on the Peacehaven forum goes under the the Username "Ex-Model".
This is what she has to say in response to ROSM's comment that "we have a bunch of idiots at this council, who have not listened to the views of the local council tax payer":-
Thye...
In itself, this is true. But it's on forums like that one that the NIMBYs hang out and mobilise.
And, as we know, the NIMBYs do have ways of getting heard at government level.
My fears are confirmed.
This petition is being used against us.
A post on the Peacehaven forum:-
first i am not trying to winde anyone up but if there are only 258 people who have signed this petition dose this not tell you something . like not every one wants the stadium to be built ..and...
I thought long and hard before posting my first message on this thread ...
It certainly wasn't my intention to start a debate that turned Albion fans against one another. I don't feel "got at" by any of the responses and I've tried myself not to "have a go" at any fellow supporter.
I hope...
