A happy coincidence then! Very interesting stats and show that we cannot forget how good Cook actually is.

Your avatar is remarkably lifelike :)

Interesting BOF! Cook is still only 28 and should be coming into his batting prime now.

    Ashes: 3rd Test @ Perth

Yup. Cannot get rid of Cook though - he is a class above everyone else. He can step down as Captain though to concentrate on batting.

    Ashes: 3rd Test @ Perth

I would say that our performance in this series is down to not having played enough beforehand!

Indeed re the bowlers, but we did not take any more batsmen with, otherwise I would have changed more. Dead rubber - give all of the spares a go, I say. But yes, you can guarantee we will win the toss in the next 2.

Next test: Ballance for KP Bairstow for Prior Monty for Swann Rankin for Bresnan Finn for Jimmy Tremlett for Broad, if Broad injured. Move Bell to 3, Root to 5. If we had more spare batsmen, more would change, but we don't so that will have to do for this tour.

That's an idea. At the very least bring in the spare players for the next test. Or maybe Aus will let us play the entire squad?!

Michael Vaughan, Ex-England captain on BBC Test Match Special"After day three at the Gabba England were 537 runs behind, in Adelaide they were 530 behind. On this occasion it will only be about 370, so there are positives there."

Aus 123-0 at Tea. Broad having an x-ray on his foot. We need rain and lots of it

O right. Are you giving the motivational speech before play tomorrow morning?

    Ashes: 3rd Test @ Perth

Last chance saloon for England now really - they have to get close to 385. If Aus have a 100 run lead after 1st innings, I think we can say goodbye to the Ashes. But stranger things have happened - decent knocks from England's middle order with some chipping in from the tail, followed by some...

Well played KP. Leave it to Bell again. At least Captain Cook showed some fight.

    Ashes: 3rd Test @ Perth

Shocking decision. I didn't see it, but that was shocking! Decent start for England, Cook and Pietersen need a big partnership now.

    Ashes: 3rd Test @ Perth

I am sure that it is not pleasant running up and down in 38 degree heat wearing pads and a helmet, yet they managed to do it without too much of a problem. Has Captain Cook checked that it is not a two sided coin?

Let them off the hook again. 326-6 at close of play.
