    Europe: In or Out

I think you're making the right decision, and the reasons you give are fine. It is slightly depressing to hear a lot of your friends are not fully engaged though. It's hugely important to the age group you've specified....they're gonna have to live with this referendum decision for a long long...

You could possibly tinker with the hospital software?

I feel your pain....I have to fund the ****ing English.

But your earlier post suggests you do not fully understand how the EU, and the councils, MEPs and Commission operate.

    Europe: In or Out

Maybe not. But thousands and thousands of UK people currently are and have been over the past 10-15 years or so. I personally know quite a few.

I've discussed this at length on here before. Can't be bothered again.

I hear what you're saying and agree with needing a balance. There are better and more imaginative ways to protect low income work than rolling up the drawbridge though. FYI I fully support workers rights but from an international perspective. And we need highly skilled jobs before we can pick...

Lack of manufacturing is down to lack of investment and focus by successive UK governments. Whats this got to do with immigration?
  9. Herr Tubthumper

    Europe: In or Out

I don't think you fully understand what the European Commission is and how it works and why it works the way it does.
  10. Herr Tubthumper

    Europe: In or Out

I'm not convinced it is. I think it's more about the economy and general stability and security.

Thinking about this a bit more, can't you just get yourself an EU VAT number and cross charge like me? You shouldn't lose or pay twice on taxes; this is s general principle. The obtaining of the number, and the subsequent accounting, is very simple....unless I'm missing something.

    Europe: In or Out

Interesting. I can only speak for my own situation but I am better off due to VAT and don't charge it on purchases* to the EU; it's cross charged to the UK via my HMRC VAT submission. In fact, because of the differences between UK and Germany I get a small refund over here. I appreciate yours is...

"True capitalism" and regulations. Are you getting a bit confused?
  14. Herr Tubthumper

    Europe: In or Out

Please. I never said the ESA didn't exist. Fergus referred to it as the EU Space Agency. I said this, ie an EU space agency, doesn't exist. And it doesn't. Some seem to confuse Europe and the EU; it would appear you're doing just this.

    Europe: In or Out

Yes they collaborate, yes they fund, but it's NOT an EU organisation. This is my point, and my only point. Please read the second sentence of the link YOU, yes YOU, posted. Here is its: "while they are separate organisations, they are increasingly working together" The key words here are...

If you're going to argue black is white I know you're humouring me. I'll step aside.

    Europe: In or Out

I did, could not see which part of the EU it reports into though. Maybe you can advise?
  18. Herr Tubthumper

    Europe: In or Out

The ESA is a completely separate body/entity to the EU. It gets some funding but this is all. Just because something has European in its title it doesn't mean it's a division of the EU. Your argument is like saying the European Cup is the EU Cup.

FFS. Are you humouring me or just being stupid?
