I never saw the properly live, but did listen to their stuff back in the day and probably saw them live on something. And plenty of people I know did get it.
I can't always pinpoint exactly why I can't connect with a band and they fall into this category. I didn't dislike them, more...
Off to see Slayer week after next so I decided to give their new album a listen. Age certainly hasn't tamed these guys, the lead track Repentless is a ferocious and brutal as anything they've previously done.
You might be in luck then, as he does play around with the effects on his vocal in a few tracks.

I have been sent the new John Grant long player by those lovely people Rough Trade. First listen I was a bit meh; possibly because of the ridiculous level of expectation I have heaped upon it. Very very pleased to say it's a grower. Some truly wonderful songs are now starting to appear.
Any thoughts on the new PIL long player? Opening track sounds a bit Sleaford Mods. Some good moments and I love the last track Shooom with it's techno styling and rant vocal.
I've never been convinced by any New Order album to be honest. They are an absolutely incredible singles act, having crafted some amazing tracks over the years. But their albums always fall well short in my opinion.
