None of 'the experts' other than HKFC have come up with a name worth considering that could stick around and bat for some time if needed rather than the T20 rubbish slogging. It is now annoying me what was the name of 2 young openers everybody was raving about last year, I am sure they played...
I think people are upset because we had this test won when Australia had 8 wickets down in the first innings but as usual we let them off, the hook and suffered as a result.
Could they persuade Cook to come out of test retirement just for this series,? What happened to the 2 young openers...
No as he is a specialist 1 day batsmen and shows it in test matches were he is not good enough. IMHO the biggest change has got to be remove Root from the captaincy and give it to ...........possibly Stokes. then perhaps Root can concentrate on his batting as he is supposed to be our main No...
Certain posters were quick to say I was ruining this thread with my lack of knowledge so I post a sensible question but none of the experts have come forward with suggestions.
A poser for all the cricket experts on here. Who is there on the county circuit good enough for England and can bat for more than 30 mins with out trying to hit out as per T20.
If a century that takes 4+ hours was needed from Root or anybody today is the day. For all of my criticism of him Root seems the most likely to be able to do it.
IIRC we were in a similar position some years ago, not sure who the opponents were and Peter May scored 285 putting on 400 with Colin Cowdrey to save the game.
The major concern as regards batting must be Moeen Alli and Bairstow as both have been below their best in test matches recently. Perhaps they are both best suited to 1 day games
