Milner is two and a half years older, has been fit even less than Lallana, and has been mediocre when he has declared himself fit. At least Lallana was often GOOD in the 20 minutes he could manage! Milner had better be REALLY good at this mentoring lark, because he offers precious little else...

Meh. If people suggested that Lallana was poor value for money - by playing well but only for brief flashes - then I'm struggling to see the attraction in another years of Milner's occasional flashes of mediocrity.

I think I was watching a different game to everyone else! Solid debut, and very happy to have the guy in the squad, but I saw I guy pulled out of position, misjudging high balls, and flying into a couple of rash tackles. He isn’t in Veltman’s league as a full back.
