Exactly.
My dream next transfer window would simply be a decent striker (eg no guarantee Maupay stays fit) and a goal scoring midfielder either out wide on in front of Biss.
Probably won’t happen due to finances and everyone else coveting the same players.
When one of the broadsheets or the BBC later says “Undisclosed but thought to be £.......”, that’s always good enough for me as the figure.
Unsurprisingly, the Express, Mirror, etc always state a far higher figure, to exaggerate.
“F*cking chase the defender down, you Frog bastard”, from a gravelly voiced xenophobe in either the NS or WSU. So no change in narrative required from the bile previously spouted at AK.
Muzza and Lambert were always better footballers and all round forwards than CMS. CMS benefitted in League One from the gung-ho end to end football of Ferguson, and flopped in his two Championship spells for different clubs.
I’d love the Albion to close this deal. Maupay seems to have everything required of an outstanding striker - genuinely 2 footed, pace, headed goals, poacher, longer range strikes.
We forget the PL results over the 2 seasons where Dunk, Duffy and Stephens were an immense unit, shutting out illustrious opponents. Kept us up, twice.
Our problems were a lack of pace, creativity and ball retention in ACM, out wide and up front.
