The government invest loads on their trains though - thats the difference between us and the Swiss. The UK government want passengers to fully fund everything. The sooner they start to invest on things that arent fantasy plans like HS2 - the sooner we edge towards the Swiss. Should also be said...
Considering the major power supply issues at Balham - 18 and 9 minutes late is pretty bloody good going considering 30+ minutes was the average for pretty much everything.
They seriously need to look at the reliability of the power supply as its pretty much been the main cause of delays this year.
Gold Cards are valid within the network railcard area - map on the link below. Any TOC too. Furthest you could use it on a Virgin service is Milton Keynes.

I really do pity you if your counting minutes of delays - they happen. Accept it, move on and submit delay repay claims where needed.
Also, how much of that delay is actually due to the train companies ? The last couple of days its been power faults and landslides (pic below of todays one).
Trouble is, if you dont split/attach trains, places like Littlehampton, Worthing, Lewes and Eastbourne get their London service halved. Its a case of trying to please everyone, but pleasing no one - they can and will never win.
ANYTHING would be better than HS2, especially when our current...
When you have such an intense service with tight turnarounds at each station - the slightest delay cocks up the next service, and the one after that, and after that etc. This is also why some get cancelled or terminated short.
One of the disadvantages of having too many trains running with...
That.......and removing trees from embankments can in some cases make them unstable - making landslides more likely. When they on private land, Network Rail cant do anything about it, simple as that.
So the weather isnt their fault, but its their fault they cant run trains because of the...
Buses were running between Hastings and Eastbourne after a large tree came down and struck a tree at Pevensey - caused a lot of damage too. Of course, that's the train companies fault though
Lightning has blown the signalling at Chichester so nothing can run - again according to...
More issues with the power supply this morning at Croydon caused today's problems. Again a UK Power Network issue.......
On the subject of "they make all the profit" - for every £1 of a fare - train companies get 3p of that as profit - so if you pay £3000 a year - the company only gets £90 of...
On an aside for the loss of signalling tonight, it wasnt solely the Railway affected. Was a substation fault by UK Power Networks which knocked out the power to a large area in North Crawley. Signalling was lost between Horley and Billingshurst/Balcombe via Gatwick.
You cannot run a railway...
Yes, especially in poor weather where power cuts have been affecting the country for the last 2 weeks !!
You cannot blame them today when it was really not their fault. Questions need asking generally why power has been unreliable recently.
Well since they dont control the Power Supply, the Weather and scrotes setting things on fire - no. Staffing issues and train failures - they are the companies fault however.
1st signalling issue at Gatwick with the 20 minute delays (to only 2 services) was a points failure. 2nd issue between Gatwick and Three Bridges was a 3rd party power failure - basically a power cut which UK Power Networks control. You simply cannot prevent that. Power restored and all lines now...
Not overrunning yet, its a contingency plan - though that is the same service as today.
It isnt scheduled to be closed tomorrow, only if the work overruns. Ticket would be valid on buses and you'd get delay repay.
1) Direct trains were planned to run between Gatwick and London via Horsham and Dorking - but because of the landslide at Ockley (between Horsham and Dorking) - they cant run.
2) Buses are running between Three Bridges and Coulsdon non-stop via the M23.
Of course, the above info may be...
