[TV] Gunpowder bbc series - not for the faint hearted

I really enjoyed the first episode - I've always been fascinated by the plot as my birthday is 5th November too. The real brutality of the time (specifically in this case, towards the Catholic recusants) should not be underestimated. That said it was a challenge to watch the execution scene. I...

Mason Crane picked for England T20 squad

One of my ex-pupils at Thomas A Becket Middle. Was a genuinely lovely lad (at 8 through 11 years old) and thrilled to see him getting these opportunities - I don't follow cricket at all but as a Sussex chap it's a shame he isn't playing for 'us' but I am unaware of why it didn't work out here.

    [Albion] August 12th / holidays

Had delayed booking until now. Checked the date of first round of games yesterday coincidentally (as didn't want to jinx anything by looking sooner), so was pleased to see first games are on the 12th. So although beholden to school holiday times have booked to go from the 1st to the 11th August...

    Magpie paranoia

I seem to recall previously mild winters would be followed by larger numbers of magpies in the Spring. Also the previous mentioned road-kill proliferation on our local roads gives them plenty to munch on through the potentially lean months. Smaller garden birds are decimated as a result as they...

Profit squad ... the post match interview

I've been incredibly slow and worked my way through the opening offers and have loved it. 'Only' about a £350 profit from the sports offers only. I've had a look at the lessons for the horse racing and it clearly looks the place to regularly do well but usually a Saturday afternoon is either the...

    Postponed / Abandoned match nostalgia

I remember that one. Clearly remember that 'Mr Carrow' tannoy announcement...had been snowed upon walking to the ground, then the electrics packed in and we drove home. Never been back to Norwich since.

    Your Brighton Anniversary (Uber fan?)

I'd been taken to matches before this time but I have no recollection of them, so my bench mark 'first match' was Oct. 1st 1983 vs Charlton Athletic as we won 7-0. My dad and aunt took me (both of whom still come with me to every home game), we stood in the South West corner that day (where we...

    New cars

I've been really happy with it (yes the new model). On the face of it, it has a small 1.6 Diesel engine, but I've had no issues with lack of speed etc even with 7 of us (I've not towed anything) heading to the AMEX. The rear two seats are for smaller children really, which was a main reason for...
