[Cricket] England vs Zimbabwe, One Off Test at Trent Bridge, Nottingham, May 22nd-26th 2025

Doesn’t tell the full story of the day. We probably just edged it on balance, I think we nudged over 50% on Win Viz in the final session…..

[Cricket] England vs Zimbabwe, One Off Test at Trent Bridge, Nottingham, May 22nd-26th 2025

I saw England v Zimbabwe in an ODI in Cape Town around 2000 from memory? Would be good to get them back to playing at a decent level, I seem to recall that game was very close and I know we lost a few times to them in ODIs at least in that era. Edit - it wasn’t close at all, just checked and...

Your TV talks to you? Isn't that a bit distracting if you are trying to watch something?

    [Football] Luzzing action

I think I will have to stop looking at this thread. Even though they are absolutely nothing to do with me, makes you ashamed and embarrassed and just reinforces the negative image our compatriots (or some of them at least) give when going abroad. I am going to the England v Andorra game in...

Well Telly Savalas would strongly disagree with you on that ……

    [Football] Luzzing action

It’s all a bit ridiculous given that plenty of these Spurs and United fans probably live in the same postcode!

Embarrassing. Still the public face of the English abroad, I’m afraid. Little wonder why we are so disliked around the world. Not surprising we got nil points for the public vote in Eurovision!

Actually either would be ok, as long as you like going to TGI Fridays…..

Sheffield United. The away seats at Sunderland make those at St James’s Park seem almost acceptable by comparison!

[Albion] Is there a boycott of the Liverpool game planned?

Oh yes, of course. I really did believe the ko time was going to be announced on the day of the game. Your superior intellect and wit has shone through again. I love you 🥰! Fancy meeting up?

    [TV] Race across the world

One of my colleagues lives in Cardiff and their kids play cricket at a decent level. Apparently whenever they get drawn against against a team in North Wales, the logistics are so difficult that often the game ends up getting forfeited. So a trip from Holyhead to Bristol would probably be a bit...

    [Misc] Hedgehogs

A reminder to anyone interested to make sure you have small (5 inches is enough) gaps in your fence to allow the hedgehogs to wander freely between gardens. I understand that they can travel 1-2 miles a night and need access to 15 gardens on average. Over the weekend I looked around our garden...

Good job they don’t only speak Welsh! I went to a talk by Nigel Owens last year and he said he only spoke Welsh until some really late age, probably late teens from memory!

They are not announcing the ko time until the day of the game now. Unbelievable.

Don’t want to upset the neighbours though. I’d suggest building it in Lewes, make all beer £2 a pint and see what happens …..

    [Football] Everton New Stadium

You are probably right. On the other hand stadia have been kept and/or downsized in other countries, like Malmo or the WACA in Perth. But the FFP dodge sounds a likely trigger here, and I doubt it would be very popular for housing in the same way that Highbury was for example.

    [Football] Everton New Stadium

In my opinion, it’s not a given that just because you watch the men’s team you are automatically going to be interested in the women’s game. It‘s a completely different product for one, and often the fact that I’ve seen one game at the weekend means that I have no interest in seeing another...
