Wow. And the club have let it be known that exposed breeze blocks in the concourses were rendered this Summer. Exciting times indeed. Can see why Pulis was peeved.
As managers / ex-players now pundits often say, squad player quality is everything ... far more important than other factors in...
And say none of those, with quality, are signed. Does a relegation battle beckon?
The thought of relying on CMS, Agustien, makeshift LB's, no finishers ... to get points from or even score against Fulham, Cardiff, Forest, Wigan, Norwich, Derby, Watford, M'boro, and so on .... looks difficult...
Are other non-parachute monied Championship clubs struggling for new ex-PL players or quality players in general this Summer?
I genuinely haven't looked.
The likes of Ipswich, Leeds, S.Weds who get good gates like us.
I have a feeling that as PL money rises exponentially, their...
I'd stick my neck out and agree with that.
Strangely, Upson and Ward, prefer to earn a PL salary 2 or 3 times greater than a Championship salary (not the 'quibbling' over an extra grand or so per week, often reeled out in comments).
Lennon indicated the restrained budget at Celtic meant he/they couldn't progress, hence his resignation.
Although CP have PL income, their lack of use of it not to Pulis's liking, might put Lennon off.
I thought he was decidedly average half way through the season, but I got it wrong. He was a class act.
This is a big step forward on what we have at LB now.
Next .... onto getting quality wide-men, strikers, and a midfield creator ... before 1st Sept.
Pulis never comes across well, but Parrish shouldn't have stuck his nose into transfers, other than sanctioning the financial side. The Board have put their faith in Pulis as club manager and coach, with only his head on the block for results and so the choosing of players transferring inwards...
David Burke - swift footed in the transfer market, the transfers inwards under his reign have been astounding with his encyclopaedic knowledge of european football leagues, loves the club, and has shown perseverance despite those around him (TB, PB, GP, OG, NJ and SH) clearly not being up to the...
Great post, but a bit harsh on OG. Poyet was certainly given the backing (the clubs huge payroll costs in 2011/12 and 2012/13 prove that, leading to the vast audited losses), but even if you disagree with that and those figures which are on public record .... just look at the names of former...
If several QUALITY players don't join by 1st Sept (strikers, wide-men, a creator and fullbacks), Hyppia should walk. The declining squad handed to Garcia, that itself produced uninspiring, slow and low scoring football, has now lost several of the few remaining decent players and match winners...
If Buckley is so ineffectual, a has-been, never turns up for games and injury prone, as some would have you believe, why are Sunderland (and Poyet knows Buckley's strengths and weaknesses inside out) coughing up £2.5m?
Because he's quality.
Let's hope there's quality coming in, in terms of...
The Ulloa and McCormack fees stand out as the shockers this summer. Based on Championship football.
Long is a reasonable PL finisher, but a great athletic footballer and forward who hassles defences with fantastic pace that he keep up for the entire 90. Good PL team player.
For those who watched most/all games in both the Withdean and Amex eras, Barnes and Navarro were incomparable to Agustien. Worked their socks off, made the most of their abilities and chances, improved (subject to injuries with Navarro), generally played well in their roles, Barnes got on with...
League goals, being the bread & butter against Championship defenders?
Or do we include cup goals against the lofty likes of Cheltenham?
Surely, 20 league goals is a minimum for a £3.25m striker.
Because he's an very injury prone defender, and Liverpool didn't want to stand in the path of him rebuilding his career now he's reached mid-20's after devoting all his football years to them.
