Is that really true?
I'd say my dad's generation, the 'baby boomers' of the first world war had it far harder. A childhood during the depression of the 30's, young adulthood during a world war followed by a housing shortage of the 40's and 50's.
Agree - as for cracks our house was only signed off by building control 8 weeks ago and there are a number of minor cracks. We had one on the staircase almost identical to the OP and others around door frames. All fixed successfully with decorator's caulk.
You are correct - "without horse racing there simply wouldn't be anything like the number of horses in the world " - you post this as though that would be a bad thing
Trying to compare cows in a field with the over breeding and in breeding for the purpose of "fun" with animals bred for food is...
The OP asks for poster's thoughts - I've given mine and stand by them.
This type of thread is the ideal one to put these thoughts forward as it illustrates perfectly how the priority for so many is gambling irrespective of the harm being done to the animals they are betting on.
Horses, the...
There wouldn't be one if some didn't think that gambling and possibly a day out was more important than the lives of horses and other animals.
Just look through this thread and not one mention regarding the welfare of the horses - so few with a conscience.
My thoughts?
Six horses died on the course last year. In addition to the those that were destroyed during the selection process for "race quality" ones
Not the way to treat these noble animals purely for people to place a bet, in my opinion.
If universities are part of the state system then why do the vast majority have charitable status and all the benefits that go with that?
Only around 12.5% of their income comes from grants and these aren't all government grants. Universities in the UK are independent organisations.
I have no preference one way or the other regarding VAT on school fees however I do have one question.
If the VAT exemption for school fees is removed will the fees universities charge students also attract VAT?
This.
I've sat in the East Stand since the Amex opened but in the early years regularly went to away games - this meant that although the ES only, in any numbers, joined in with 'Albion . . .' and 'Seagulls . . .", I did at least recognise a few of the songs coming from the North even if the...
Likewise but what's the £3 booking fee all about!
Is this normal now on ST for single tickets? Have a season ticket with them so not seen such a charge before.
The ramp up from the A23 ended with an oval roundabout outside the terminal doors. You could drop passengers off but if you were picking up you had to keep driving slowly round the roundabout until your pick ups came out of the door. If you dared to stop before they appeared then the lone...
I was hoping that the original plan for a second northern runway would go ahead. This was planned to have one end virtually in the carpark of the Black Horse pub on the A217.
Our house and 5 acres of woodland was proposed in those plans for compulsory purchase and commercial development...
This argument comes up every time government agencies gain extra powers, ID cards are proposed etc.
My question to those putting this forward is why do so many of us have curtains?
Add to the above WiFi coverage and some protection from the elements for those queuing.
I used either the P&R from Mill Road or the racecourse until about five years ago. It really wasn't the time spent in the queue that turned me to using Seagull Travel but the cold and especially the wet...
Let me get this straight - you are saying that any employee or volunteer for a company who speaks out publicly against the actions of that company should be dismissed rather than listened to?
Does that apply to nurses/doctors/support staff who speak out - the whistle blower-the millions...
There is a world of difference between Tony Bloom and a bunch of crypto currency manipulators.
I feel sorry for the employees and fans of CTFC and am only surprised that it's taken this long for someone on the inside to speak out against the current owners.
